When I got my first boy - my mother wouldn't let me have a dog either. So I just brought him home one day. It was a fait accompli and after that, I got 5 more!! :) Now I have my own kennel and I'm a registered breeder. i showed her passion and she had to back down in the face of that. I'm not suggesting that's what you should do... but that's what I did. For real!! :)
HOWEVER, I did have to wait until I moved out of home to get one - I showed her that I could be independent and responsible. Now I live back at home with my mother, but she's fine with all of it.
You're going to have to prove to her that you can be responsible and independent too. It's not just about the daily feeding, walking and the fortnightly bathing, it's about the extra mess that 4 paws can make (it's A LOT!!) the potty training, the hassle of letting in and out to the toilet... what happens when you guys go on vacation... for me, I usually have to stay home to take care of all of my dogs when everyone else is off for the holidays. That's a sacrifice that I chose to make.
Dogs are also very expensive. They require vaccinations, ongoing wormings, check ups, they get sick and they need medicine... if something goes wrong, they may need surgery. Surgery can literally cost thousands of dollars particularly if you get your dog from a dodgy breeder. Food is expensive too. They're most expensive when they're puppies, and then again when they're very old.
I don't know how old you are now but I'll assume you're in high school. So what happens when you go away to college? Will she have to care for your dog? How about when you graduate? Will you move away for a job opportunity - potentially interstate or even overseas?
I'm not trying to discourage you from having a dog, I LOVE dogs, and I think everyone should know the love of a dog... just make sure you have an answer and a firm commitment to follow through for all of these things.
Maybe sit down and write down a list of "things" that could happen and write answers or possible solutions -kind of like an essay and present it to her.
Oh yeah, and earning money to support the dog's upkeep will also help. Make sure you always have at least a thousand dollars saved in case of an emergency (even though most surgeries will cost upwards of that) and try to pay for the doggy yourself.
Good luck to you!

you need to show her how responsible you are. Taking care of a puppy is hard work and time consuming maybe this is why mom doesn't let you get a dog because let's face it mom's are the ones that end up taking care of the pets

not really. i also want a dog. my dog died last September and i miss her so much. if u tend 2 stay home by yourself alot u could say a dog could be "portection". remember, u dont have to pay 1,000 $ for a pure breed. dogs from shelters are just as sweet. plus they are free and some shelters are low on room. it is just awful to see a dog die because little Bobby wanted a golden retreiver for x-mas (not a mix).

What chores do you do around the house? Do you clean your room or make mom do it? If you cannot pick up after yourself, then there is no way you will take care of a puppy. Wait until you are older and can accept the resposibility of owning a puppy.

Ask her for a horse, then negotiate down,a dog won't seem so bad to her then. You could look at smaller calmer breeds too.

Show her you're responsible by doing your chores without being asked, maybe doing extra chores, and completing your work on time.
