I am concerned that she might turn to something unhealthy to try to lose weight. She is not overweight, not in the slightest, but her mother is the sort of person who tells her children that they are fat and in other ways not good enough. I wish more than anything I could undo what her mother has done, but until I can, I am hoping to channel her concerns for losing weight to a concern for maintaintaing good health. Can anyone recommend some good reading for her having to do with obtaining or maintaining good health, rather than focusing on weight loss? I am already getting her The Truth about Beauty by Kat James and Perfect Health by Deepok Chopra, two books that have really helped me. I was thinking something good on the food pyramid, perhaps? Please, no diet fads like high protien/low carb non sense. I want to encourage her towards balanced, nutrient rich health.

I would love to take her to see a doctor, preferably a good nutritionist, but unfortunately neither her nor I have health insurance and she lives in another state. I was actually kind of hoping that by sending her reading material her mother might read it too and make some positive life style changes in their house hold. You know, like maybe not serving Hamburger Helper three times a week.

ok first off if she is soo concerned take her to the doctor. SHe might not want to go but it's going to help her understand she is perfect the way she is. You can always go on google and google BMI. You can figure out her BMI there and see if she's underweight, just right or overweight. If she can VISUALLY see what is going on with her Body it is soo much easier to understand then just hving someone say you are perfectly fine. Pictures speak more then words

I have been a diabetic for 41 years. I am always reading about nutrition.Prevention magazine always has great articles. Most celebrities(sp) like oprah, will always push diet and exercies to maintane, not loose. Diet meaning what you eat, not to try to loose. Have you ever thought about talking to the mother and warning her about the weight loss diseases out there, that she could be pushing her children towards?

if she is worried about it then tell her to eat salads. MIXED SALADS or maybe a chefs salad and when she asks why tell her that the Letus in it is consierd a negitive carb. (takes more to digets then it give the body) what she doesnt know is that only certin kinds of letus do this and if you get her to eat other vegies with it then it will make her think she is loseing her weight when realy she is maintaining it. she has what sounds to be an unsure thing about her self thanks to her mother. u should convince her to go see a psyc
