I am concerned that she might turn to something unhealthy to try to lose weight. She is not overweight, not in the slightest, but her mother is the sort of person who tells her children that they are fat and in other ways not good enough. I wish more than anything I could undo what her mother has done, but until I can, I am hoping to channel her concerns for losing weight to a concern for maintaintaing good health. Can anyone recommend some good reading for her having to do with obtaining or maintaining good health, rather than focusing on weight loss? I am already getting her The Truth about Beauty by Kat James and Perfect Health by Deepok Chopra, two books that have really helped me. I was thinking something good on the food pyramid, perhaps? Please, no diet fads like high protien/low carb non sense. I want to encourage her towards balanced, nutrient rich health.

I would love to take her to see a doctor, preferably a good nutritionist, but unfortunately neither her nor I have health insurance and she lives in another state. I was actually kind of hoping that by sending her reading material her mother might read it too and make some positive life style changes in their house hold. You know, like maybe not serving Hamburger Helper three times a week.
