This dead beat at work called me to cover for her her Monday while I was on vacation because she was deathly ill. Given her history of being out all the time for stupid reasons, I went back and covered for her Tuesday. She came back to work today whining about how near death she's been all week. She also told me that Monday night while deathly ill she had to fulfill a contract with the school to take pics at a dance (she moonlights as a photographer). Anyway, I heard her talking to our boss about how sick she was and I made the comment that I bet those school pics didn't turn out very well her being so sick when she took them. The boss fumed and took away 2 of her vacation days for next week as she was supposed to be off. I'm just wondering if I should watch my back now? Was I too b**chy?

If you had a choice of covering for her, and you did while suspecting he was faking, then yes, you were too bit*hy: HOWEVER, if you were forced to come in from your vacation and found this out, I think you were adequately bit*chy. LOL Probably best to just forget about it, although paybacks are usually tough. You've had your payback, so move on. I would NOT take calls from work while on vacation, it is unethical to call you in, you should get an extra week's vacation for the inconvenience.

If you really didn't want to help her out, you probably should have not covered for her. Even though you didn't plan it out, it might look like you set her up.
Did she get what she deserved? Probably.
But now you may have to watch out. It all depends on what kind of person she is.
Also, if she does try to get revenge, you don't want to get caught up in a what will look like a petty rivalry in your boss' eyes.
If you're really concerned, apologize to her. Tell her you were in a bad mood and didn't mean to get her in trouble. If you aren't sorry you did it, just keep your eyes open for any possible retaliation.

You may have to watch your back, but she's been screwing the company and her co-workers long enough. Time for her to wise up and be real.

Well it wasn't the nicest thing you could have done. Would you have wanted it done to you?

I would apologize to her, and yes, I would watch your back.
