No. It's illegal to mark money in order to make it unspendable.

If you are talking about the government removing it, it would be illegal at this time. Federal law requires the word be on all currency. It would take either a change in the law (not likely to happen because too many voters would object) or a court striking down the current law.

I'm not exactly sure if it is "illegal" per se, but I TRULY don't like the idea of it at all! This nation started off as a Christian nation once. To some extent, it's hard to believe! It's so sad! It seems as though the enemy is trying his hardest to have our nation continue to slip away gradually from a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

The word were added to money when our government was trying to make us afraid of Communism. Anyone who didn't believe in God had to be a communist. Our nation was not based on Christianity, but on the moral teachings of the Bible. The founders fathers were Deist, believing that there are no actual miracles, such as creation and the virgin birth. But, they did believe the Bible had valid moral teachings that was needed in society. As for creation, they leaned more towards evolution than creation.

There was a good program on the Discovery Channel about this. In that sense, we are not a Christian based bation, but one based on Deism.

It's only illegal if you get caught doing it. A dremel tool works well on coins. Paper money requires only a dab of whiteout.

are you talking about personally or by changing what is printed?

if its the first then it is against the law to deface federal currency but no one cares to enforce it.

as for the second you need to pass a law in congress changing it.

By marker? No. By other means... probably not.

What other ways ARE there though?
