There are 2 different trailer tow packages available from the factory on an '07 Explorer Sport Trac- class II & class III/IV

I've pulled up the trailer tow guide for your vehicle for you :

There are only 2 sizes hitch receivers that are installed at factory; one is for light duty and the other for heavy duty towing. The Sport Trac with trailor tow package has a 2" receiver for loads of up to 7,000 pounds or Class III-IV

What is really important is how much you plan on pulling. You need to determine how much weight the hitch is rated for. Class 1, class 2, or class 3. Then if you want the best choice in ball size and 2 inch is best. But you must also match the size of the receiver hitch size. So for example you Boat Trailer hooks to a 2" ball buy the 2". But check your hitch rating to verify you can pull that much..

P.S. Verify you vehicle can pull that much as well, check your owners manual for towing specifications
