Yea Right.....They're having secret meetings at Pearl Harbor & Iwo Jima....PALEEZ !

Does anybody have a clue how much the American owned automobile companies (GM & Ford) contribute to THIS country's economy?

Haven't heard anything except I did read about Nissan and another maker but I think it was GM.

Ford owns 33% of Mazda BTW.

But in the 1990s, Ford and Nissan built a vehicle together called the Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager.

In the late 1980s-early 1990s GM partnered with Toyota to build the GEO car line. The GEO prism was actually a Toyota Corola... Same parts and all, More people in that car market bought the Toyota version for more money even though it was the same car..Go figure....

But Ford and Mazda share a few cars together like the ranger/b-series and the Escape/Tribute

My son works at a Ford plant in Saline, Michigan and not week goes by that he doesn't hear this kind of rumor. They were actually interested in some talking with Nissan after their talks with GM fell through (I think it was Nissan) at one point but now that Ford has "borrowed" billions and have the whole restructuring thing going I doubt that anyone would be willing to "talk" to them. I really think the restructuring will work, by the way.

As an added note I am wondering HOW the person above thinks that GM and Toyota are teamed up. Toyota and the other Asian car companines are killing ALL of the Big Three (soon to be the Big Two through Four)

There is no talks between ford and toyota, you may be thinking of the fact that all the manufacturers are in talks about alternative fuel vehicles. Toyota has nothing to do with ford- nor would they ever want to.

No they are not... Ford now owns Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Volvo and a good part of Mazda... they are also restructuring and spending money to re-organize, which incidentally, is working. They don't need Toyota or anyone else, and for all those out there supporting anything but Ford, GM or Dodge... maybe you all hoping for a Japanese government also... spend your money on Domestic and they wouldn't be having the problems they're having with market share... duhhh
