Yes, as long as your license isn't suspended or revoked it's fine to drive without it. IF you get stopped however, you'll need to explain why you don't have it and give the officer CORRECT INFORMATION so he can verify that you are who you say you are.

NO, it is not legal to drive without your license in your possesion. However, if you get stopped you can still get a ticket or a warning. Then most of the time if you produce your license within amount of time they will cancel your ticket and it will not go on your driving record.

Legally, no. You will, most likely, be given a ticket. If you only get a warning you will be asked to bring your VALID license to the Police Station and they will verify that you do, indeed, have a license and that it is, indeed, no revoked or suspended.

If you're driving to the DMV to get a new license, you can explain that to a cop. Otherwise, No. Get this taken care of...no sense in giving the cops another reason to question you or what you're doing.

In the UK, theoretically it's illegal but you'll always get a producer or they'll just check it on the computer - nobody carries their license with them usually.

Do you know your drivers license number? If you do you should be able to give it to them and it should be okay as long as you can give them other information that is on there also.
