I didn't really worry about it till this morning, even know it was tuesday when I got hit in the jaw. It is the bottom where the lip joins the gum you could say that my inside lip id buised. It hurts when i eat and drink. It is dark red/purple.

Anyway I just want to ease the bruise. Should I suck on ice or put something on it? Thanks.

Motrin for the pain, ice for the first 48 hours, Heat after that. However, you may want to go to the dentist. I say this because it is possible that you fractured the tooth at the root level. If that is the case and you let it go untreated, it could abcess. That would make matters much worse, believe me. With the holiday coming up, you will be sol if you don't get this checked out now. Good Luck!

The worst was opening the batting in a second grade match which meant we often played first XI’s anyway! This game I went out to the centre and took guard and did the mandatory look around the field. What to my surprise I looked back, and the keeper was standing a very long way back. I then noticed the three slips and two gully’s. I thought to myself, this bloke is dreaming – there is no way he is that quick. Well, to this day I don’t remember seeing the first ball, but I remember hearing the ball hit the pitch and then a thud into the keepers gloves. The next ball I managed to get the bat between my jaw and the ball. The ball flew over the slips off the shoulder of the bat for 4. The next two balls, exactly the same thing happened. I was now on 12! The bowler was a nut case and continued with a barrage of bouncers and profanities. After a couple of overs and a few more lucky edges over and through slips, I was about 35 or so. Then this bowler actually surprised me and pitched one up and it hit me on the inner thigh of my right leg. It left me unable to walk! I had to retire hurt and strap ice to it. I could not walk for 3 days and the bruise that it left covered the area from my groin all the way down to my knee and completely encircled the thigh. This was at least 15 years ago and I still have a mark on thigh where it hit me! It doesn’t always have to be a quick bowler that does the damage nor do you even have to batting to have an injury from a cricket ball. Two other quick examples are when I played a sweep shot off a spinner and top edged the ball into my face. I had two stitches and blurred vision in my left eye for a couple months. Still now, I do not have 100% vision back in that eye. The silliest though was during catching practice just before a match. Someone called my name just as the ball flew off the bat. I turned in the direction of the caller and smash! The ball smashed into my mouth with a sickening ‘crunch’. I lost two teeth and had to have 5 stitches on the inside of my mouth. So, when people say to me that cricket is a game for puss1es I challenge them to face up to really quick bowler without a helmet, or to do some close reflex catches and see how they fair.

dont listen to these idiots the same thing happen to me instead i poked my gums with my finger nail and my gum got infected and I had to get my tooth removed. Just go to the dentist and go to a good one bc most of these dental hygienists are idiots. I could have saved my tooth a long time ago if I had known it was an infection.
