Is this a sign that I need new bulbs? Any other possibilities?

It is a sign that I need new bulbs? Using the "convergence" menu doesn't help because the colors are fine in the center of the screen (where the test cross is located). Any other possibilities?

You picture convergence is not correct. Otherwise, there are three guns (projectors) inside: Red, green, and blue: One or more of the guns are not aimed correctly. If you have the ability in the menu to set your convergence, use that. Otherwise, it may need to be opened and manaully aimed. If so, call a repairman. There are very high voltages produced inside a TV. Someone not knowing where to put there hands could get seriously hurt.

this is not a matter of settings, your convergence amplifiers need to be replaced. This a common problem in all rear projection CRT sets. This has to be done by a good tv tech. This repair will run you between $250 to $350.

you may have speakers or some other magnet too close to your set

because it's old and i means get a new one or it will die on you
