How about a gift card to the rehab center?
P.S. After your addt'l info I have a perfect gift for your son ... a set of handcuffs. If that doesnt work for you than don't buy him anything.... use the money that you were going to spend on him to rent a U-Haul and move to where he doesn't know where you are. Sorry, I am NOT the type of person to give this type of advise normally, but if he has been to rehab 3 times and then stole $8.5k from you - IT"S OVER.

My suggestion is that you do not give him anything for Christmas. Show him that you love him but also let him know that you will not enable him to continue his habit.
It sounds like your son is in a desperate situation. It may be time for you to seek outside help, such as an intervention with an addiction counselor.
I'm really sorry that you're going through this with your family. I wish you the best of luck.

If rehab and Jail don't work then he obviously has no desire to better himself. The kid needs goals and a reason to NOT be a drug addict.

Give him the gift of having his life back. Offer to send him to Teen Challenge (they have ones for adult and they are VERY successful). I have a 25 year old brother who is a drug addict. It started with just a little prescription abuse, then pot, then everything he could get his hands on. It gets worse. It always gets worse. He had children and now at 30 my husband and I are raising 6 kids (ours and his). His kids got hurt. Please, try to stop it now, it doesn't just stop on it's own. Seek support for yourself, too.
God Bless you and give you courage and wisdom. I also pray He comforts you this Christmas.

Don't give him anything. If he is under 18, send him away to get help. If he is over 18, charge him rent. If he is late with the rent even once, throw him out. He will not get better unless you do these things. DO NOT be a co-dependent.

Buy him some groceries. He can either eat the food or sell it. If he sells it, someone else will eat it and your plan to feed someone will not be in vain.
