Is the statment "We are equal" a lie ?

Seems someone took the statement, 'we are equal before God' and trimmed half of it off and made the statement ' we are all equal'...

Is that true or false ?

Find a mentally retarded person - a supermodel - a brain surgeon - a Borneo headhunter - and your next door neighbor. Compare and contrast and try to figure out any way you can to say they are equal. If you can find a way - then the statement is not a lie. I can (has to do with that before God stuff) so for me it is not a lie but I do realize it has certain limitations. Read Kurt Vonnegut.

We are equal before God, and we are also equal among oursselves. That is reality, although some people may not believe or may not practice it.
Following is an affirmation from all high:

"His mission was to change ignorant fanaticism into Universal love, to establish in the minds of His followers the basis of the unity of humanity and to bring about in practice the equality of mankind. He declared that all men were equal under the mercy and bounty of God."

you should be able to answer that ? all by yourself. in my eyes NO, we are not equal at all. i say that from the way we are treated in society today. democrats are treated different than republicans, criminals from the innocent,(and i don't mean in court but in society) race is an issue, gays and straights, men and women. basically, the person sittjng next to you. that's why the world is the way it is today, this question should be highlighted all over the world for people to realize someone out there cares.

We are not all the same, but we're all entitled to respect as human beings. We are all equal in dignity and rights, the poor as well as the rich, the physically deformed as well as the aesthetically beautiful, the mentally challenged as well as the genius. Every human being has worth.

Equal in God's eyes - but different - each person has their own special abilities or disabilities - the measure of a person should be how they handle the gifts that were given them.

Well, that was the teaching of the Bible and also can be seen in one of the most ancient languages: the Chinese writings.
The word "wo" [I/me] is drawn like this: 我 which is originally a "hand"(shou) 手 holding a "spear"(ge) 戈 , meaning I am a powerful person. You (ni) 你 is made of the components 人, "ren"(man/person) and a balancing scale beside it, meaning "you are also a person equal with me", and "he" (ta) is a person "ren" 人 with the component "ye" 也, which means also. Thus "he" or "they" (tamen 他们) are "also men equally made with you and I."

But of course, men at the end of time are predicted to be lovers of self!
And the command to "Love your neighbours as yourself!" are only practised by a few. The rest of the people on earth are only Christians by name, but they are actually lovers of self and bigots. And they will be surprised when Jesus comes back and says: I don't know you!

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

So the answer is, the statement is not a lie, but most of the people who profess or claim that they practise is are liars, controlled by "the father of lies".

that question is too general, biologicaly we are equal, we possess the same biological and anatomical mechanisms to survive. We are equal at different leves and un equal at others. All humans posess the same ability to cause damage or good. It depends of what you mean with equality.

Think of it as having more than one child although one child may be smarter or stronger or one may have a disability, you don't love one child more than the other. We are not created equal but we are loved equal in Gods eyes not one of us is better than another.
