I am thinking of getting a flat screen LCD 33 inch tv to hang on my sons (he is 2) wall so we can watch movies in bed sometimes (not everyday) I just want to know how many other kids have tv is their room.

I know it's horrible and people will say what a bad parent I am but my daughter is 20 months old and she has her own TV in her room. She loves it. She's the kind of baby who likes to be to herself and she loves to be in her room watching TV. I limit her though. After 5pm she cannot watch any TV just playtime with me and her father! It also helps me when I have something to do. I just put her in the crib and she loves it!

That is a bad idea. Children with tv's in their room score lower on tests than children without tv's. When I was ten years old, I begged my dad to put a tv in my room. He did. I was so happy. Ten years later, I regret having a tv in my room because it distracted me from doing work. I ended up watching tv instead of doing extra studying. Children WILL do that. It's just too tempting. Try watching tv in the family room. Why don't you guys read together in your kids' room?

Also, I have noticed something about the people on here who have answered that they do have tv's in their children's rooms. They have poor grammar. They don't use commas correctly. They spell words wrong (and I'm not talking about abbreviated words like "u" for "you"). Some of them don't even use periods. What does that say about their educational level?

I have 2 children and yes they have TV in their rooms otherwise I would hear fighting all the time because boys and girls watch different shows. My children are 5 and 8. I dont see a problem with it because when they are bad I take the TV away from them and that is a harsh punishment to them.

I have 2 little boys, ages 2 and 4, and the tv helps. I know all of the people in magazines say it is a bad idea. Personally, I am a housewife, it helps whenever I need to clean or just have a little down time. They are not constantly in front of the TV the majority of the time it is on they are playing in their room. But it does help to give me some sanity throughout the day. So I say it's a good idea just as long as your child isn't just placed in front of it all the time.

My daughter got her first TV when she was 3, but she only watched her fav disney movies on it.
You MUST monitor what your kids watch. I believe even some of the cartoons are not appropriate and should be removed. We watch TV together (yeah I'll admit I like Mickey's Clubhouse lol), and I never allow her to watch anything that is not meant for children. Also, TV time should be limited. It's better to read to your child and teach them things instead of letting them vegitate in front of a TV.

NO, NO, NO. Maybe my husband and I are old fashion but there is only 1 T.V in the house. and it belongs in the livingroom same goes for a computer it's a family shared computer so that we can all see what each other is working on. I don't agree with putting a tv in there room. You child need to learn how to sooth himself to sleep and not really on a tv. I grew up with a radio always on and now I NEED to have noise in the background, My husband hates it. My son is almost 3 and soothes himself with a book or his cow stuffy.
I'm not saying having a tv is bad parenting cause my brother put a tv in his childrens bedroom and it works for them but I just don't agree with it. Just my personal opinion.

My son does. He's had one in his room since he was two (he got it and a DVD player for his birthday). Up to that point, he would not stay in his room all night, no matter how many times we would put him in there. Once he got that he stayed. It's still his nightlight, and I'll turn it off once we go to bed.

If you get a flat screen for his room, I'd be sure that it's secure to the wall and where he can't reach it. I'd hate for something to fall on him!! Also, make sure to tell him that it's not a toy and it's a no-no to touch.

My kids are 9 and 11 and they have no TV, I think they should watch TV with the family. I think it is sort of spoiling them too.

I put a tv in my son's room when he was 3. He only watches it occasionally.
