I have 2 girls, ages 2 & 4 & I do not allow a tv in thier room. Kids watch enough tv daily, they don't need one in their bedroom. JMO We have set the rule(they are too young to understand now) that when they are old enough & have a job & can buy their own tv then they can have one in their room, until then they watch tv with us in the livingroom or movies or pbs in the playroom.Every now & then...about 2 or 3 times a month we let htem bring their sleeping bags & pillows into the living room & sleep in there & watch a movie with us.

I think TVs are really all about a personal choice. When I was growing up, there was one TV in the livingroom that we all watched together. I didn't get a TV of my own until I was 17. We have already discussed the idea of the TV with my oldest daughter, who is 8. She wants one because a little girl down the street (who is 4) has one in her room. My husband and I feel that a TV in the bedroom is just not appropriate, when a child should be spending time playing outside or making up their own games inside. I'd rather my kids develop their imaginations instead of relying on the TV to do it for them. I know there are plenty of ways to entertain toddlers without the TV, I work with them everyday in preschool. Occasional use in bed is one thing, but many parents rely on them to put the child to sleep (which actually keeps them up longer) or entertain them while the parent is sleeping in. It gets abused, and the child doesn't learn how to put themselves to sleep or regulate their behavior to help them calm down. I remember it being a very special thing when I was little to get to go into mom and dad's room when I was sick to watch movies on their TV when I'd be staying home from school. Occasional use is ok, but I'd keep the TV out of the kids' bedrooms.

I have a three year old and she has a TV and DVD in her room. It is up high so she cant control it, it alsways stays on either disney or nick jr but most of the time she watches kids dvd's. She only uses it at night for an hour or so before she falls asleep. She reall yloves it when i get into her bed sometimes on the weekedn and watches a movie with her. But I say get one just moniter it and make it so the kids can't control it.

My daughter (about to turn 2) does not have a TV in her room. I personally do not agree with having a TV in a child's room. People in general watch too much TV as it is...my husband and I have a TV in our room, and if it were up to me, it would be out of there.

My 6 year old daughter and 19 month old son share a room, and have a Mickey Mouse TV with DVD. I keep it to a minimum, but both sit down and watch it off and on.

I would buy a Flat Screen for a 2 year old though, save the money and get yourself a bigger one for the Big shows.

My daughters are 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 and they share a room. Their bedroom is decorated in Dora and they have the dora tv and dvd player. It was a christmas gift from their grandfather. What was I'm supossed to say? "I can't except this because I doon't want my kids to turn into losers."? Get real. The thing is barely even on

My 2 yr old has had a 25 inch in his room since before he could walk. He now knows to turn it off when he leaves the room and when he doesn't like the program that's showing. I'm FOR children having TV's in their room. It's on the parent(s) to block the channels the children are not to watch.

*ugh* My mother in law bought one for my daughter when she turned two. How annoying! Forget all the garbage about them becoming "anti-social" by watching too much tv- that's just some people's personality types. The bad part is that it makes them boring. My daughter would sit in front of the tv for 12 hours a day if we let her. I wish she were more creative and energetic. I fear that her sitting on her butt will have stronger consequences in the future (obesity) so I limit her tv. Hope this helps!
