it was produced November of '77 I am trying to find out what the "J" stands for the Ford dealership couldn't tell me. Any opinions would be helpful.

I think J was the 302 engine :)

I have to agree somewhat with the idea that the J is just a typo. The original factory title must have had the J on it and every time it was retitled, the clerk at the DMV has put the J on it. That would be in the section of the title with Model on it. If it were the VIN, then the J would stand for something. If you look at the VIN, the first 4 letters/digits are probably F150. Sometimes it was just the first 3, such as F15... in the VIN for 1/2 ton, F25 for 3/4, and F35 for the one ton. I've had a few those years and tonnages (the '73 to '79 body and 1/2 thru 1ton). I've thought that was neat on the VIN how they did that.

If ita A Texas Title its Just a Typo.... Someone just typed in J when they were filling in the form on the computer...

hay if it is on the title, it may be that the truck was taken to a wrecking yard, hence repaired and resold as is. ask your dept. of motor vehicles, also in my state after 10 years no title is necessary? well lots of luck:)
