Seriously, if the bible was inspired by "god", why is it not the most captivating prose you've ever read? Why is it open to so much interpretation? Shouldn't it be the the most perfect book ever written? Instead, it's confusing and dull.

Well the bible is the bestseller of all time.

As for me I will take a good Stephen King over the bible any day. At least he doesn't claim that Pet Sematary really happened.

I have read several of stephen Kings books and will not read another because they are all the same except bones and even that one had several of the same plot thickeners in it.

The Bible on the other hand I have read several times and even the exact same book reveals something new every time I read it as long as it has been a month or so since the last time. When there is a good Bible study you will besurprised how many people see new things you did not notice and these things you would see are all actually in there.

Your problem may be that you do not have the comforter inside you revealing these so interesting things. You see while the Bible has that cipher quality to it one can not see the cipher without the cipher key, which is not to say there is not still something there for the seeker that points the way to recieving the cipher key.
God Bless you

You are correct :"interesting". That's all. You read it, and then what? While you are reading it, you are a spectator.

The Bible, on the other hand, makes you a participant. But most people today have the TV mentality --sit and watch.

Some of the things that reading and accepting the Bible encourages you to DO are:

1. Live a healthy lifestyle : no tobacco, alcohol, drugs.
2. Help the helpless.
3. Show respect to your parents.
4. Co-operate with civil authority.
5. All able-body men MUST work to support their families.
6. Be fair to everyone.
7. Prepare for the hereafter.

These are just SOME of the changes demanded of the Bible. But because most people are basically selfish, they would rather do away with God.

Because Stephen King is more realist in his work and everyone can relate to his carectors. I know people really love a good scare and he knows how to give one. He is my favorit author. Plus the bible was written by a king who couln't read so he hired writters like Shakespear to do the writting for him and there is a lot of missing peices. I'm sure if everything was there that needed to be it would make more sense and would be less dull.

Well first, Stephen King books are alot easier to read than the Bible.
I mean really I think they need to translate the bible in MODERN
day english, then mayby it would be more intresting and alot easier to understand. Second, King writes novels...so theres gonna be action and suspense in his work, plus the bible is too long to read. Not that I have anything agianst it.

It WAS the most captivating book of its time, just like Friday the 13th was captivating in the 80's but is lame by today's standards.
