Universal. In Europe in some spots you can still see signs that advertise catholic auto parts. It means universal is all or in other words this is the faith that is the same world round. This is the faith that was the same from it's inception 2000 years ago. There was no other faith than this so it was universal or catholic

For what that's worth, your argument does make experience. to narrate as a Christian, all I would desire to do is think of comparable, mutually with accepting yet another faith, whose tenets I vehemently disagree with, all on the claims "i'ts been around for a protracted time, and people who reject it is going to fare poorly interior the hereafter. the 'selection' is mine, as a result my fault if I go through for no longer having 'chosen'". i think of to any extent further i would be giving a customary respond, that lack of knowledge is a valid protection come very final judgment (lack of knowledge as in - no longer understanding which "reality" to %, or maybe beholding one for that be counted). My formative years pal who's an atheist, had a pal who suffered a frightened breakdown upon being no longer able to reconcile those subject concerns of eternal torture for lack of ability to be attentive to/parent what's which anymore (and yet meaning to be a sturdy guy or woman in the two adventure). in specific circumstances in basic terms terrific a quiet non-confrontational existence is the wonderful selection a guy or woman CAN somewhat make, somewhat than shop obsessing and spiraling ever deeper upon having their "buttons" pushed with claims that tension them loopy. Take it difficulty-free, be of sturdy cheer, that's my suggestion to your contemporary point in existence :) Regards, Pat

everyone is right, technically.... the word catholic does technically mean universal, but nowadays its been replaced "by popular terminology" and by popularity means roman catholic, as in the false religious system, wich is not to be confused with christianity

My dictionary defines it as meaning "universal" or "comprehensive." Whatever definition you wish to attach is up to you.

"Catholic" is derived from the Koine Greek ("New Testament Greek") word "katholikos", which means "universal".

UNIVERSAL!
Like-- My tastes are very catholic. I enjoy all foods.
The Vatican cult have "cornered " this word to mean just them.
They even had to twist that!
