Okay so, tomorrow I am going to the movies (about a 20 minunte drive or so away) with this guy that graduated from my school two years ago. We used to be pretty good friends, but now we haven't talked in a while and he's home from break so he wanted to go out, and he asked me, and i said yes. I just really don't want things to be awkward... how do i make them not?!

chat about the times you guys were in school, the good old times. talk about stuff like that, something that you two can relate to and stuff.

You focus on friendship, not romance. Don't let your expectations get out of control. You used to be good friends, and enjoy each others company. He's still the same person. Just look at it as you're going to the movies with an old friend. Ask him about what he's doing (school or work) now, and catch up with what's going on in each other's life. If he were a girl instead of a guy, you wouldn't be worried, would you? Treat him as a friend. Have fun!

I agree with Chris on this one. So what if time has passed? Yeah, you might ask the usual questions about what's going on now, but otherwise, don't talk about the past unless the conversation leads to it - in a good way. Whenever I see a friend that I haven't seen for a while, it's just good to hang with them - the length of time is irrelevant. Have fun!

Ask him about school, find out what intrigues him at school what classes, topics, etc. Then have him talk about those topics, everyone loves having a person take interests in their loves, their dreams, hopes etc.

Good luck! I hope you two have a great time!

Well, you haven't seen him for a while, so ask him what he's been doing with his life, what his plans are for the future, what other mutual acquaintances he's still in contact with, and so on and so on... Good conversation kills awkwardness.

forget about the time span and act like you did before. people usually dont change that much, but they think the other one has which creates uncomfortable pauses in conversation. just be yourself and be up front. youll have no problems.
