This term gets thrown around a lot and has been way over used, but Jesus refered to it when he was talking to a pharisee who wanted to change his ways. Jesus told him that in order to gain eternal life he must be "born-again." This, in essence, means that we must throw off our old ways and our old lives and take up our crosses and follow Jesus. We must be 'born' into new lives of Christ. So, what "born-again Christian" really means is a believer who was not brought up in the church, but rather someone who seareched it out for themselves and became a Christian in that way. Many people do use it to mean all Christians however because they don't understand the real term.

A born again christian is a person who has become a christian and has been raised all over again in the church community. It refers to the process all people, no matter when or how they came to Christ, go through while maturing as christians.
Coming out of the baptism waters is symbolic of the choice to follow Jesus, and of the new life after death.
Sometimes it is a long process and it takes alot of socialization to turn a messed up life around!
Sometimes it happens very quickly.
Each individual is different, and everyone is at their own stage of christian maturity. Born again must not be mistaken for perfect. It is a process or re-birth and being raised (socialized) again in a new way of life.
John 1:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, F7 he cannot see the kingdom of God.

The term born again refers to a Christian who has been granted their request for a do over by God. The term is believed to originate in the Bible, specifically in Romans 3:16-17, which states: "If the King'f Englifh be good enough for ovr LORD, it be good enough for vs. Also, be born again."
Born-again Christians must begin to read the Bible more selectively. This gives rise to the term "Buffet Christian," a synonym for the term "born-again." That is to say, born-again Christians are imbued with the wisdom of God to skim through the Bible, picking and choosing the parts they like the best, much in the same way one would skim over the food at a buffet, picking only the items that are the most nutritional.

The term born again was used first by Jesus in John 3:1-21 when He was explaining how to get to heaven. Being born again means dedicating your life to Jesus and turning your back on sin. Basically it means that you get to start your life over again, this time you put your self last and put the needs of others first. The best modern example is Mother Teresa. Dedicating your life to Jesus may sound foreign, but all it means is that you want the same things He does. Which is for all humanity to live in peace and joy. If you really want to know more I suggest that you visit GotQuestions.org. I find all kinds of answers to the religious questions I have there. If you don't have a Bible there are tons of Bibles on-line for free just enter the word Bible on your search engine.

Some Christians are under the misconception that since they were born into Christianity or that they believe in Jesus they are not in need of rebirth. Well if you are a human being and you have lived long enough and have sinned after you have reached the age of 13 you have sinned, and you have fell short of God's glory. If you have not been baptized you are not born again. This is not my opinion but it is the true word of God....

Jesus, when directly asked that question, said that being born again means spiritual renewal through the waters of baptism, being "born of water and the spirit". This has been the understanding and prcatice of the Christian Church for 2,000 years.

Jesus Told Nicodemas in John 3 :1-5 That one must be born again.he asked how must I be Born again?I am an old man.how can I enter my Mothers womb a 2nd time? Jesus told him unless one is born of spirit and water he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mark 16:15-16 Jesus says"Go Into all the world and preach the good news to alll the creation.Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned". acts 2;38 Says we are baptized for remission of sins. Romans 6 says we are baptized in his death.(where we come into contact with his blood.)Gal.3:27 says when we are baptized we put on Christ. Hear,Believe,Repent Confess Christ among men,be baptized and remain faithful untill death and you can be born again In Jesus Christ and Have everlasting Life. we all have eternity before us!

Adam - 1st man - sinned (disobeyed God) - all men born afterwards are born with his sinful nature ("I did it my way" not God's). Jesus - not born of Adam because Son of God (only father counts not mother) - does not inherit sinful nature - often called the 2nd Adam - did not sin (obeyed God unto his own death) - all men who accept him are "born again" and put off the sinful nature. That does not mean they stop sinning. That is another subject. This is a very controversial subject but that is the basic theology behind the "born again" Christian.

When you truly except Jesus and ask him to forgive you of your sins you are born again if you really mean it in your heart all you sins will be forgiven that is why he died for us and if you mean it you repent from your sins. To be born again means to receive the holy spirit and fully trust and follow the way Jesus taught us.
I hope you do this, the only way to heaven is through the son.
I'll keep you in my prayers. Keep seeking God he will show you the way.

As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said "...Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again...." (John 3:3-7)
