It is just a job. People have the choice not to enter a strip club, just as women have the choice to become strippers.
Not all exotic dancers are drug addicts. I'm not naive, yes, there are women in this industry who use drugs, just as in any other career. But most clubs would not hire a dancer with meth mouth, track marks, or one who shows up late and hung-over after a night of drinking and binging on cocaine.
Strippers are not taken advantage of! If anyone is, it's the dumb, drunk, slobbering, men throwing $20s and $50s at the dancer who wouldn't even speak to them if she wasn't working.
Exotic dancers are not prostitutes. Once again, yes, there are strippers who do "extras" or "favors" but they are few and it is certainly not a job requirement. This would get a dancer fired, because it jeopardizes the club's license.
I am in control of my job and what I do on stage. I would never do anything that would make me feel uncomfortable. I am in no way degraded, any dancer who thinks she is being degraded has bought into the stereotype and is too busy with self-pity to think for herself. I have fun and I am paid very well. It may not be for everyone, but I love my job and do not see myself quitting any time soon.

Personally, I recognize exotic dancers as hardworking, talented entertainers.
I used to work as a musician in bands, & occasionally worked in establishments where there were exotic dancers working either between our sets, or on other floors of the house.
I always considered the girls, (& some boys) to be our equals as entertainers. Although I am sure the dancers made a whole lot more money than me & my bandmates all put together.
If the public in general are against exotic dancers, I would suppose that would be due to the connection made between nudity, sex, & money, & that isn't a far stretch from prostitution.
It's all a fairly hypocritical view for people to take on since these girls could never get work dancing solo on stage the way they do unless they took their clothes off.
They also make far more money than girls who dance on stage in what one might call a legitimate form of entertainment.
So if the public is so against exotic dancers, & so supportive of dancers who don't disrobe during their act, then why are the ones who do take their clothes off making better money?
As I said, I am not against exotic dancers. I simply view them as dancers who made a choice based on economics.

Exotic dancers have many stereotypes against them; their always sexually active, they've had a STD of some sort, their drug/alcohol abusers, etc. I believe many people hold prejudice against them because of the moral fiber of their religion or being. I personally believe that pornography of any kind is immoral. Obviously it has to do with my religion. Also, I think that it exploits the dancer. To most costumers they are a fantasy, nothing more. Exotic dancers thrive on the human need for reproduction, and with the way that society views sex goes hand in hand with they way society views their profession. Society in America views sex as a dangerous, non loving, frequent act among people. Something that has been brought down to a physical activity with no meaning behind it what so ever. Therefore, a dancer is brought to represent society's ideas of sexual thought and behavior. Though I don't agree with the act, I find it ironic that the public has an outcry to stop exotic dancing, even though the majority of men have at least gone to a strip club once.

I have friends that are exotic dancers I love them as friends. But the public are against them because the motive is to suduce= sex for money. Its almost the same concept as selling yourself. I said almost. But its also the same as a car dealer selling you the illusion that you really want a certain car to get a girl. The exotic dancer is trying to say hey you can all this but you have to pay. Hey my friends are in houses that are paid for and they dont have to rely on a man. So as long as my man isnt in one we have no problem.

I think it's a hard argument, some woman dance for the money in a classy way,and they use this money to better themselves, but not most of them!Where I live, you go into the club, these girls are a mess,no teeth, track marks all over their bodies, and they are shaking their dirty asses for a high later on that night, they dance to pay for their addiction!I don't see how they could get a dime from any man,but somehow they do!I think it's more of a matter of where you live and what you see that the bad opinion comes from!

Most strip clubs allow illegal activities in the "private rooms" and law enforcement lets them get away with it. The "services" rendered in those rooms cost the patrons much more than a regular prostitute would charge. I think the public looks down on strippers because of these activities and because they make a lot of money at something any high school dropout with a decent body can do.

I'm not against it if they are decent and go by the rules that they are supposed to go by and don't get mixed up in drugs. My friend made good money doing this. I think the public is against it for many reasons. 1. A woman degrades herself when she does it. 2. It makes many men think that the women doing it are just sex symbols and have no real brain. 3. Women don't want their boyfriends and husbands looking at them. 4. They think about their own daughters and don't want their daughters to get any ideas and want to do it. The list could go on and on. I've heard so many reasons why.

Of them in general I don't know. Some in particular seem at ease and ok with that job. Some don't. You mean either women and men?
