I cant tell you how many Christians I have met and argued with over the years but I have come to the conclusion that many Christians don’t want to know the truth because they are afraid of hell. There are sooooo many flaws from beginning to end in the Bible. From Genesis on the impossibilities are astounding. I can not just take it on faith that somehow Noah got two of every animal onto a boat. Some of which would have to swim from other continents to get there. Which would probably take more than 40 days and they would probably drowned in the process. Then somehow get them not to eat each other because if a tiger ate a rabbit there would no longer be any rabbits. And when these creature where finally taken off the ship none of them got sick because that would completely kill the species, or were effected with abnormalities from having such a small population the breed with. It is just impossible. Period... Then there is Jesus who I believe was a prophet. One of countless during that time. And even if he was the messiah there is no way to know his true words for two reasons. One if you look in the bible itself there are three books about Jesus, none of which were written by him and they all contradict each other in the order of events and the words spoken in those events. And two there are countless other scrolls and scriptures not put into the bible that have much different teachings about Jesus and his beliefs. It wasn't until the council of Nicea that churches officially started saying that Jesus and GOD where the same. I again cant just take such ridiculous notions on faith.

Ever notice the coincidence that most all ancient religions have a Great Flood story? Now you must realize that all the books of the Bible are written in different styles from the Hebrew poetry of Psalms to the fact of the matter letters of the apostles in say Ephesians.

Any policeman will tell you that when you question witnesses you will get a lot of truth and a lot of misperception. The lack of cohesion between the gospels of the New Testament must be looked at for what they are. Eyewitness accounts. Expect a few variations here and there on detail but the important things are uniform.

The gnostic gospels you speak of that were left out of the Bible such as The Book of Jubilees, The Apocalypse of Moses, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, The Gospel of Thomas, etc.

Each one of these books was discredited as blasphemous (Thomas was due to the author saying he was Jesus' equal and everyone else can be too) or being contradictory towards a person's character (Gospel of Mary Magdalene) or as being pointless (The Book of Thomas the Contender).

The council of Nicea simply decided on a uniform Bible the gnostic books were researched and found to be bogus and discarded the scriptures themselves indicate Jesus and God are NOT the same person. Jesus is OF God but he is NOT God.

Jesus was not just a prophet and identified himself as the Messiah aka The Christ twice during his life. Once to the Samaritan woman and last to Caiaphus. The gospels don't actually contradict as much as they leave out details the others include.

Read it more don't read more into it.

First of all , It took Noah more than 40 days to build the Ark..i believe 129 years..so they animals had plenty of time to get there. Secondly, there are 4 books written about Jesus in the bible..the Gospels..Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and thirdly, I have never ever heard that it wasn't untill the Council of Nicea that churches started saying they were the same person. How do you explain the events in the bible.. you cant. Because God is not human and Isiah 55:8 says "my thoughts are not your thoughts and neither are your ways my ways.." meaning we cannot even begin to possible understand God and his ways..it is when we start trying to reason it and rationalize it our our finite minds that none of it makes sense...we are so simple compared to God we are not made to understand his ways..there is no explanation on certain things back then..just like there arent nowadays..like how is the sunset SO beautiful and how is a child seriously formed from a sperm and an egg and how does everything in our bodies just "work" and how do people come together with such love for each otherafter events like 9/11...also there are bad things that cant be explained..why does a child get sick with cancer..how do some of God's people(preachers) do so wrong....we cant understand because we are human and God is truly not. The bottom line is if I live my life believing in God and at the end , there isnt a God what have I lost, but if you dont believe and there IS a God, YOU will lose alot..your eternal soul. Please consider and read at lease one of the Gospels all the way through and truly open your heart and you WILL feel the presence of the Lord

Take it easy....LOL, like fundamentalists you are taking the Bible too literally. You make good points about Noah. In all likelihood, the great flood did not span the entire globe, but instead spanned the world as they knew it back then....they would have thought it was the whole world based on their knowledge and experiences.

True, the conclusions about Jesus being the Messiah occurred much later. The reason being is people analyzed Jewish scripture to determine the supposed timing of the Messiah......and finally came to the conclusion it must have been Jesus based on Jewish prophecy for who/what/when/where.

The Jewish community, of course, agrees with you that Jesus was just a great prophet and that the Messiah was not to come in the generation Jesus was alive (although Jewish prophecy did mention something about it happening during Jesus's generation).

But, then again, who are we to say God's time (a day) equals human time (a day).

Life is a mystery and we're all just trying to figure it out. If we just respect each other through our different beliefs, we can co-exist.

You can't take the bible literally. Recently, they were showing in the National Geographic channel that the church omitted some books because they didn't want them to appear in the bible. Such books like Peter, Mary, and other people who are unknown. Also, on Sunday they released a program based on historial findings of old scriptures found in old libraries or in digs. Those scriptures told that Jesus was an angry teenager (like most of us we're in that age) and he had a relationship with a woman. Those scriputres were omitted or misplaced but now technology is finding out new things. You are very smart by questioning all this, that is why God gave us a brain.

First, let's take Noah and the Arc. The bible says he was to take two of every "kind" of animal. They means two birds. period. Not two of every type of bird. That makes a big difference. As to the animals behavior, I believe God who controls all nature had a supernatural effect on them. God wanted this done. A very good book you can read is "Evidence that demands a Verdict". If you are serious as to wanting to find out the truth, I challenge you to buy and read that book by Josh McDowell. As to scriptures, we could go on and on but it would take too long to answer here. There were strict rules as to what could be claimed scripture - had to meet certain requirements and there were lots of fake scrolls and writings that did not meet these requirements. Jesus claimed to be God from day one. In Genesis, it says "We will make man in OUR image". In Phillipians it says he temporarily laid aside his claims of diety in order to come down on a mission to die on the cross for our sins. It says elsewhere that he has now been reinstated to his original position and sits on the right hand of God. It also says every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. It is Jesus who at the end will judge the world. I hope you will remember that as you go on your journey.

You have to get straight what's ridiculous and what's not.

It's ridiculous to read ancient Hebrew myth and poetry as if it were a factual journalistic account. Read it for what it is, and it becomes a magnificent tapestry of Israel's faith in the one God of mercy and justice.

It's not ridiculous to say that Jesus is the incarnate son of God. Two doctrines here: first, the Trinity, which says basically that God is not an isolated monad, but from all eternity is a communion of love. Think about that: God is a communion of love. I've never heard a higher teaching.

Second: the Incarnation: God became a man, and suffered death to deliver all creation from the bondage of death. God isn't distant; God suffers with us. And redeems us. And transforms us.

These are both ways of saying "God is love" in a deeper way than anyone other than Christians has ever been able to say.

As for contradictions in the NT... sure, it's an historical account written by human beings. Look beyond the details, and read the essential. God loves you. God suffered for you. God redeems and forgives you. You are free -- free from fear of death, free to love. No one else but the incarnate Son of God could have done this for you. And for me.

FIRST OFF NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD EXCEPT THAT GOD DOESN'T LIE.
Second there were 7 PAIR , male and female of CLEAN animals on the ark (14) a pair of the unclean animals under the old testament.
Third the ark was HUGH and GOD SHUT THE DOOR.

Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things HOPED for the EVIDENCE of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

We all have the choice to accept or reject God's inspired word.

We choose right or wrong? God or Satan?

Heaven OR Hell?

You forgot to mention all the food Noah had to take along to feed all those animals for a year, and if everything was flooded, how much longer did they wait for more crops to grow?
Those were some tuff animals, and that was one hell of a boat.--It made the Titanic look like a row boat.
And how about that big fish that swallowed Jonas., and spit him out three days later in good shape.---That "fish" must have had nice accommodations inside his big stomach, with lots of oxygen to breathe, and not much of that nasty stuff(water, acid, enzymes, undigested food,etc.).--Nice place for a three day vacation.

first of all, everything in the Bible is 100% TRUE. back then, all the continents were joined together, so NO, none of the animals would have had to swim from another continent. do your research. and also, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD, so you have to have faith to get to Heaven, not facts. NONE OF IT IS RIDICULOUS. you just need to BELIEVE. thats all Jesus wants you to do. its very rude to say all that about Jesus when he had nails driven through his hands and feet, and was horribly beaten just for you! thats like you just punching him in the face after he went through all that ONLY for you. even if you were the only person in the world, the only person he could DIE for, he still would have went through all that pain. i suggest you watch "The Passion Of the Christ" and read this poem.
" I went up to Jesus and asked 'How much
do you love me?', and he said 'this much',
and he stretched out his arms and died."

What can I say, you don't believe God and I do. What is impossible for man is not impossible for God. I wish I could help you with the faith thing but I don't know the answer to your question.
