I would take the least amount of baggage possible, just because of the fact of limited space inside your stateroom.

It sounds like you extended your plans without telling your wife first. As a married couple, you can't just make plans to do things with other people before telling your spouse first. You just don't do it. Family or not, your wife and baby are your IMMEDIATE family. Brothers, parents, etc. then become extended family. Your wife was more than generous in agreeing to you going away for 5 days. Adding another 2-3 days to that without first talking to her is unreasonable on your part. You either need to keep to your original 5 day trip and cancel your plans to attend the family picnic or you need to find some way to get your wife and baby to that picnic. Besides, you say its too costly to fly yet you are more than happy and willing to pay for a 5 day cruise and whatever else it would cost to spend 2-3 more days at a family picnic. You really need to get your priorities straight. Be the man and father she needs you to be and cancel the picnic thing.

I would average a suitcase a person and 1 extra for anything you bring back. If your traveling with a woman most women take at least 2. We just came back from a cruise this past week ourselves. My 2 girlfriends and I had 2 suit cases a piece plus a duffel, and my brother had 2 large duffels. It also depends how long your going to be gone.

You can take as many bags on board as you want - there is no limit. If you're flying also, then there is a limit - no more then 2 bags per person to be checked, and 1 carryon, plus a personal item.

It depends on how many rooms you get/size of room. If you're getting an inside stateroom or anything of that size that all four of you will be sharing, two of you will be able to take two large bags and two of you will only be able to get one. If you have seperate bedrooms then you will each be able to get at least two bags per person. If you have a larger room, two or three per person.

Four people is four bags. One rule of tumb is to not carry more than your family could carry by hands a short distance. Johan

One bag per person is plenty, you may want to back some collapsible bags to put your souvenirs in. I don't know about everybody else, but I always bring back much more than I started with.
