I am 16, 5' 3" and weigh only 110 pounds. I have been skinny all my life and am sick of looking like I'm anorexic even though I'm not. I love to eat, but find it difficult to gain weight with my food allergies. I'm allergic to nuts, eggs, seafood, soy, and anything that has artificial flavoring. That doesn't leave me much choice to eat foods high in calories. I'm trying to gain 10 more pounds and have increased my calorie intake, but find myself feeling overstuffed and bloated. Do any of you have food allergies and tried to gain weight in the past? If so, what have you done to make this process of gaining weight easier?

At 16 I wouldn't sweat it. While you may look "anorexic" now, weight gain will happen when you get older, even with having to avoid the foods you have to avoid. I had the same problem, minus the food allergies, and it wasn't until I was 25 that I finally started putting on weight and stopped looking so skinny.

There are other nutritional drinks out there that can help you with your food allergies. My son is allergic to soy, nuts, eggs, and milk. His doctor prescribed Peptamen Junior. There is another version for adults, but be sure to ask your doctor first. The peptamen junior is 250 calories a can which really helps. You can also gain weight if you begin light weight training and exercises. You will find your happy medium through both excercise and a balanced diet. Try not to overeat as you will continue to feel bloated and stuffed, and it is not good for you. Also, I wouldn't be too worried about it, I was about that size when I was your age. It would be in your best interest to consult your doctor before doing any of this.

I have the same food allergies as you, but not the same problem.
All I can say is drink alot of milk.
It would be easier if you could just drink things like PediaSure or Ensure, but they both contain soy ingredients.
You should really talk to your doctor, I'm sure he has some alternatives for you.

Another thing you should try is eating 5 meals a day including snacks. Add lots of meat and protein to your diet as well.
