No. There's no possible WAY you could have known that her husband didn't say anything about the party. Whatever the wife is feeling about the party is probably directed at her husband, not you.
Her husband kept his mouth shut. Not you. The fault lies with him. There's nothing you can do to change the situation. (Except perhaps to lend a listening ear to the wife).

I don't think you should worry yourself over any part of it or make to much of it. You were just extending a courtesy. Some people just are not good at planning things... my fiance did the same thing with me when he invited some co-workers, their spouses AND kids over for an end of summer BBQ... we're talking about 20+ people and he did not tell me about until the night before. Thank goodness Safeway is open 24 hrs. I pulled it off to everyone's delight but I made him suffer for the faux pas... I feel sorry for your husband's friend when his wife get's a hold of him.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

No you should not feel bad, you were invited and are quilty of nothing, even if you let it slip. He is the one that made plans that his wife did not know about. I am sure they will spat over this, but it is not your problem. I would ask him if the party is still on, if not drop it. There will be a lot of tension in that household if this party does go on, it could be akward.

Even if you did cause the upset, it was not done intentionally. So karma-wise you are not to blame. You are not responsible for that action since you assumed that the wife knew (all of us would). But people would blame you - since your the easy culprit, while technically its the husband's fault. Don't worry, get some sleep.

No, you did not purposely hurt anyone, therefore your actions were not bad. You were just asking a question, and due to the lazyness of someone else a problem was created.

If it was supposed to be a surprise, the husband should have told your husband. Therefore, it is not your fault.
