Does anyone experience fatigue from taking lexapro and if so what kind of changes did you use to reduce it? I'm wondering if this is a common side effect? I really don't want to change this medication because it helps my anxiety but I wish I was more energetic.

Fatigue is a very common side effect of virtually every SSRI antidepressant. You can try reducing your Lexapro dosage to decrease the fatigue or switch to Prozac which has a more energizing effect than other SSRIs.

Side effects are different for everyone but it sounds like what you are describing are most likely side effects. My advice, call your prescribing doc tomorrow, tell them about what is going on. I took lexapro several years ago... I had major side effects, ended up having seizures and needed to be hospitalized. It was absolutely horrible. I was acting so strange that my Mom insisted I stayed at my parents house, I was in graduate school at the time. I'm lucky I was at my parents because when I started having the seizures I obviously couldn't get the phone to dial for help. Be careful, if at all possible have a room mate or family member check on you several times tonight and call your DOC, ASAP tomorrow and make sure they get back to you before you take another dose!!!

When I first was taking Lexapro I got really tired and stayed tired. Aftfer a few months it passed.
I know a few months can feel like a life time. If you are concerned that it is not a "normal" side effect talk to your pharmacist(sp?) He or she may have some awnsers for you. Don't stop taking it with out consulting your dr.
Good Luck!

Different drugs impact people differently. I was prescribed meds for depression once upon a time. The lex kept anxiety at a distance but left me feeling lethargic. Doc added welbutrin and for me that did the trick. But the meds they use now cover more territory. Your meds shouldn't make you feel a lil better, dosed right in the proper combination they can make you feel 100% better and a good mental health care provider will be targetting that. Call them tell them just what you have related here, I am sure they can adjust meds, serotonin, dopamine, and adrenaline have an odd effect on each other and combinations or new meds may be just the trick. Be well.

I'm currently taking 75 mg of Efexor XR. At first I took it in the morning but come 2-3 pm I was just tired. I have been taking it before bed ever since and have not noticed as much a problem.

At first I was experiencing symptoms like sweating, yawning, and dry mouth. Those symptoms don't seem to be a problem anymore. So it could have been the settling period or taking it at night. I do notice that my ups and downs aren't as drastic. I don't laugh as hard at things I know I would find really funny though, but it seems to balance out the depression.

Hope that helps

Baggy clothes hide one's body and encourage lounging around. So regardless if you're relaxing at home, wear fitted clothes to maintain you on track.
