Some things are interchangable as for as outlets go. Just check the back to see if it does 100-240V. If it says this you can use it anywhere. China's outlets usually have a slanted three-prong and a striaght two-prong plug-in. The two-prong will take American two-prong plugs. Chinese power strips can take American three-prong as well as two-prong plugs. Depending on where you go, convertors could be difficult to find. It's best to buy them stateside if you're not going to be in an international city.

First of all, most power in China is 220. Check your cameras electrical sticker/box to see if it can handle 220. If so, most of the time you can find a standard plug (american style) there are also varitity others, so you will want to have a travel power converter set. If your camera can not handle 220, DO NOT plug it directly into an outlet there, otherwise it will fry it. Always use the convertor. These can be baught at many places for less then 20 dollars.

US = 110 V China = 220 V The outlet & sockets are in triangular three prong pattern.
But don't get hung up on these little things. For household electronics just wait til you get there to buy the adaptors or chargers. The ones you buy in the US are made in China anyways. And you'll probably pay more just for an adaptor in the US than the whole charger in China.

I think outlets use different amounts of voltage/currents, depending on what country. I bought the Travel Smart universal adapter, and my camera and mp3 player chargers worked just fine when I visited China.

A variety of electrical outlets can be found in China, so a good all-around adaptor plug set is recommended. See the website under Source below.

power in the u.s. is 120/240vac. 60 hz. power in china is 240vac. 50hz. and in english that means that you only have to go to a best buy or store like that and buy a converter. you can charge up your camera battery on it with no problem. outlets in china have several configurations of plugs and all converters have plugs that will adapt to them. not to worry. $25 more or less.
