It's a fact that women get depressed more easily than women. I think its because we go through more changes and because of our emotions. Some women get depressed after having children too, and has its own classification of depression. The same way with panic attacks which falls in with depression.

More women ask for help when they are depressed. That's why it seems like there are more depressed women. Often, depressed men have a hard time asking for help. Depressed men tend to act out with bad behavior, like drugs and alcohol, violence, crimes etc. The experts say that the depression rate is actually the same in men and women.

Us women have more changes to our body then men. I believe this also that women suffer more then men. Like you said though maybe because I am one?
I know after having a baby, or around that time of the month it can set in hard. Keep up on your diet, get plenty of rest and sunshine. Replace the iron that your period takes away in the unwanted blood.

Yes there is. There are so many more pressures on women then men. Although men are more successful with suicide attempts, women are 4x more likely to attempt it than males. I think that's proof enough right there. Men use methods are more destructive like using a gun or hanging themselves. Whereas, women are more likely to swallow pills or slit their wrists. I am also a woman and I suffer from depression.

Women have higher rates of depression. There may be an actual higher rate in women or it may be because women are more likely to seek treatment for depression than men. Bipolar disorder appears to be equally common in both sexes.

I dont believe so, I believe woman are more likely to ask for help than men, I also believe that many men and women suffer in silence because of prejudices against mental illness in our society.
