Just a couple of things to check-There is a air vent tube from the gas tank to the fuel pump, if this gets stoped up vacuum forms in the tank. Try removing the gas cap to see if this corrects the problem, if not get the on board computer checked, could be the brain. Good luck iv'e been through this before.. Not an easy fix.

Hi, I had a Ford Probe before, just talking about it today 12-22-06.
I had a lot of problems, especially like shutting off, seeming like it needed a tune-up.
After much money, they called in a specialists-prognosis, low transmission fluid. Its seems that the probe developed crazy problems with low trans-fluid. May not be your problem, have them call in a specialists if problem persists.
The car got totaled, boy was i glad, forced me to buy something else.

The ignition control module will do this, also a bad crank position sensor could also make it shut down.Usually it is the module since the heat makes it fail and cooling down solves the problem. Good luck.

Try looking inside the Gas Tank.
If something plastic or rubber (Balloon) got in there then it would cover up the port and shut you down. Then after a short rest the object would float away from the port and you would run again.
Good luck.

my guess is the ignition box...a gray box normally mounted to the fire wall or the inner fender well. these will act this way...as when they warm up a breakdown inside occurs...then when cool the breakdown will not appear. You can normally have this item checked at your local parts store.
Hope this helps and Merry Christmas.
