why is it that during the holidays which should be spent with friends and family do people need to drink to excess just to enjoy them selves? a booze free christmas would be more fun for the children and family instead of getting up christmas morn with a hang over. besides its not even christmas yet and i have been stoped 8 time at roadside checks. the world must be drinking too much booze. LETS HAVE A BOOZE FREE CHRISTMAS AND ENJOY IT AND NOT BE SICK AND TIRED

I wished it was that easy my friend. I have little family that cares about weather I'm dead or alive and I drink on a daily basis. So the day of Christmas has no meaning to me other than being the day of birth of our lord and savior. If I had to wish for one present in my lifetime it would be to have a sober christmas.

Because it's the holidays and people don't have to be at work the next day. Drinking is fine as long as it is done responsibily. It's tradition.

You gotta know your limitations however and have a designated driver so you can be around for next Christmas.

Now for a glass of Christmas wine.

because they feel like it. if you dont want to, then dont. if they want to, then let them. dont judge people because of how they choose to spend their holiday. i myself will not be drinking on christmas day because that's not what my family does. but there's nothing wrong with having a drink or two during the holidays. it's a good time to unwind. and one of the few times people dont have to worry about going to work and other responsibilities the next day.

I never need to drink. However leave me to keep Christmas in my own way. To quote Dickens

I guess they need to drink because they are addicted to it or to forget.
I myself, age 27 have never taken a drink in my life cause i have seen what drinking does to people. I have had 3 of my family members drink themselves to death so i guess that is why i never did feel the need to drink.
And another thing how people drive drunk have you noticed that the other people in the crash die and the drunk almost always live? It just isn't right.
Merry Christmas!

That's an editorial not a question. You are refering to people with drinking problems, not just occasional cheer.
No one needs to drink. If they do they are alcoholics and they need help.
To drink in moderation, is not a problem. I like a cocktail in the evening. No problem here.
