Especially troubling when they KNOW you don't share their beliefs and respect them enough to not impose your beliefs on them. Why do people feel the need to say that they hope you return to the God that created and died for you...Doesn't do much for me really...rather rude...its like an attempt to make someone eat liver and onions...why would you feel compelled to force your views on another person who is quite comfortable and confident in their own, different, spiritual path?

They're selfish. It's as simple as that. They don't have the courage to accept diversity. Differences scare them. It makes them feel more comfortable to believe that everyone should think and act as they do. They're children who will throw a tantrum if they don't get their way.

Just as someone would feed the starving or aid the sick, they think that they are saving souls. What these people often forget is that spiritual discovery and growth is a very intimate and personal part of one's life. Everyone wants other people to be healthy in every aspect of life, but that does not give us the right to change another's life. If the belief one holds is so wonderful, it will be self-evident and therefore in need of no preaching.
I think the problem lies within people and not their religion. I know of no religion that considers forcing beliefs a virtue. Since spiritual discovery and growth is so personal, people take it personally and get defensive to any opposing beliefs. Hence the brow-beating, arguing, and rage associated with this topic.

It is because it's what Jesus expects of us. To spread the Good News of the Gospel. To hold it in might deny the chance for someone to get saved. We are to sow the seeds , as Jesus said ,although many will not grow , but a few will in the hearts of true, new believers.
Jesus is coming soon. The question remains, is He coming for you?

BTW...Religion has nothing to do with faith in Christ. Religions are man-made / Satan-endorsed

If someone believes in something no matter what it is, they are naturally compelled to share it. If you see a great movie, or hear a great song and you know that somone else would enjoy it too, don't you tell them about it? Hey, I know this movie, or this song that's really great that you would enjoy...
It is the same for those who have found peace or joy in their religious beliefs...they share them because they think you too could find that same joy and peace.

i think this is because they are insecure about their own beliefs that they feal better when they say it out loud and impose it on others. people enjoy talking about what they believe and when they find that someone doesn't think the same then they have to convert them so every one will think the same so they wont feal so alone in their beliefs. tolerence in untorlerated

First of all, not all believers in Christ are 'religious fanatics'. Secondly, to answer your question, it is the duty of Christians to spread the good news of Jesus; they're not imposing their beliefs, they're sharing them.

u . s .. i'm a Thelemic Wiccan, and the only way my government can admire my faith is to stay out of the corporate of religion. Seperation of Church and State is the substantial message of our Deistic, Masonic, Unitarian or maybe Christian forefathers. whilst it comes all the way down to it, whilst government money is utilized in church, or whilst church money is given to governmental officers the two entities are corrupted previous fix. The founding fathers of usa observed this typical hand in England, with their "Church of england."

I guess Christians see it like this. If you were already in a life boat and you see someone in the water drowning you give them your hand to save them. Of course Christians can't save anyone we can only point the way. Jesus is the one who does the saving. He died for all of us if you chose to accept his gift of eternal life or not is your decision. By choosing not to choose is still a choice, make the right one.
