I found AA to be more about religious beliefs than quitting drinking and the online versions even more dogmatic. It's a program based on fear and the belief that you are powerless and only GOD can save you, one fearful "day at a time".

I've managed to stay sober (5+ years)using online support, but not AA. A couple of the best groups I've used are:

SOS (Save Ourselves):

Without AA:

Online AA meetings are only good to use in addition to physically attending meetings. Actual AA meetings are invaluable and you'll never match the success you can achieve in person with an online encounter. Don't take the easy way out- you'll only relapse.

The first AA meeting might be a little uncomfortable, I've been in AA for two years. People in AA are caring and understanding and know what you are going through. Please go and give it a chance I'm sure you will be suprised

I often wonder that myself. I'm drinking right now. How did you hit bottom? Just curious.

Have you tried looking through the Yahoo groups. I found groups for my condition in these groups.

i'm sure there are online resources for you to use. i would recommend going to meetings a few times at least. it helps to put a real face on this crummy disease.

It wouldn't work - you need the face to face - trust me!
