One of the things I've seen in the Qur'an that bothers me is that it seems God does not love everyone unconditionally. It seems to be saying he hates certain people, because they sin.

In my own understanding of God, he is like a good parent that loves his children, even when they are going astray. His love makes Him want for them to come back to him, for their own good. But he does not hate them.

God does love everyone, but that does not - and should not - prevent Him from being just. That is why there is a Hell. In the end, those who enter Hell are the ones that God will never be pleased with, right? This is not just in Islam, but in Christianity too, and probably Judaism. In most cases, God hates the sin, not the sinner (that is also what Muslims are taught). But when you have someone who is truly an evildoer, then surely God hates him for God does not love evil-doers, hypocrites, disbelievers... That does not mean, however, that God would not have preferred it if they were good people instead. Also, if they repented, He would definitely forgive them and love them again.

If only you were willing to sacrifice some time for this, I would have shown you how God looks for excuses to forgive people. Talking about God's mercy will just take foreover. Instead, I'll just quote a couple of things, the Prophet said, that talk about God's love:

God said, “I am just as My servant thinks I am, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is even better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running."

God said to Prophet David: “David, I have servants whom I love, and who love Me. I miss them and they miss Me. If you do as they do, I will love you.” David said, “O Lord, who are they?” and God answered, “They watch and maintain the time of prayer, and they miss Me as the birds miss their nests. When the night comes, and each one is alone, they come to Me praying with great humbleness, asking Me by My words and getting closer to Me by remembering the gifts I have bestowed upon them. Some of them are weeping, some are crying, and some are complaining. I see what they are suffering for My sake, and I hear what they are saying. My first gift for them is My Light which I have blessed them with: they talk to the people of earth about Me as I talk to the people of the heavens about them. My second gift to them is that if the seven earths and seven skies vouched for them on Judgement Day, it will be to their benefit. The third gift is that I will look at them. Do you know, David, what I give to those whom I look upon?” “O David, if those that are running away from me only knew My yearning for their return, My desire for their repentance, and My wish to forgive them, they would ache for Me. O David, if this is My desire for those that are running away, then what about My affection for those who want to get close to Me?”

God said, "I appreciate even the slightest effort, and I forgive even the biggest sin. My Mercy precedes My wrath, and I am more merciful to My servants than a mother is to her newly born child."

Peace be with you

It is good that you seek to overcome hatred with the love of Allah. Allah's nature is such that he is pure goodness, truth, and love. He cannot be anything less than this.

When the Qur'an speaks of Allah's punishment upon those who do evil it is not because of a lack of love on Allah's part. Allah loves everyone even the sinners. However the evil that is done is not loved by Allah. And this evil does affect the soul of person.

Everything you do, everything you think, everything.. all affects your soul. When you die your soul enters the presence of Allah. If the soul is properly prepared then he enjoys Allah's presence. If the soul is filled will evil and not prepared for the presence of Allah then the soul will struggle to hide in a dark place, but no place will be far enough, away from Allah's love. The effects of evil on his soul will make him feel great suffering.

It is not like that, that Allah hate the people who sin, as he has created angles that do not sin. But man do sins. The most beloved person in the sight of Allah is the one who do a sin and immediately repents it. as Allah(SWT) say in Quran that to get nervous of his mercifulness is a great sin. .......your Lord has written Mercy for Himself, so that, if any of you does evil in ignorance, and thereafter repents and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allah), then surely, He is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.

John 3
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The bible says God hates wickedness and sin. It also says that God is angered by sinful people not that he hates anyone. Just as our Mothers and Fathers do not hate their disobedient children but they hate the disobedience!

Rom 1:18-19
18{God's Anger at Sin--} But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves.
19For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts.
(NLT)

Rom 1:25
25Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.
(NLT)

First and foremost, may i know which chapter and verse are you referring to? I have long studied the Quran and i know for sure that more often than not, the verses will end with "And most surely your Lord is Most Gracious, Ever Merciful" Thus, i would like you to address to me which verse have you come across that made Allah appears to be LESS merciful?

Until you name the verse, i would say that you are simply trying to fabricate and mislead the interpretation of the Quran.

Yes this is an unfortunate truth. many muslims fall into this dangerous fallout of knowledge. The Qur'an teaches hate and that GOD is not forgiving. The GOD that muslims serve, is different from the one which Christians serve. Our merciful father teaches us that we are forgiven of our sins, but we must first repent with a sincere heart. I am sad that many people are led astray by islam. It is a man made religion, which teaches hate and unforgiveness. However Christianity is based upon having a relationship with Christ, however not everyone who claims to be Christian really is. Our Father and JESUS teaches us to love one another and forgive people who do us wrong.

Yes He loves sinners who repent dearly. Trust me on this one. God knows that we are not like the angels. He knows that we sin. I am a Muslim i should know. Please know that God is the Most Merciful. That is one of his names.

May Allah guide you,

As-Salam Alaykum
[Peace be upon you]
