I take Prozac for depression, and I feel ok with it. But I don't feel like doing things. Does Prozac help you feel more active?

I was on Prozac for 10 years it takes a few weeks-up to a month to get enough into yoursystem to return to your regular level of activity. I have since been switched to Efexor wihich appears to be working for me at present. If you have been on Prozac for this length f time and still feel "zombie" like then its likely that prozac isnt for you, do NOT go off it go back to your Dr and tell him what you are experiencing; there are numerous medications on the market make sure your Dr is up with the lates info, you may need to try several to find the right one and the right dose....its worth the effort.

when i was on prozac they had me also on 40 mg but it didnt help different meds help different cases you may still have some depression that the prozac isnt helping but how long have you been on it?? some meds dont really get to their full potential until theyve built up in your system and that can take up to 6 weeks....if youve been on it maybe you should talk to your doc and see if there is something else or maybe you were mis diagnosed that was the case for me i found out a couple months ago that im actually bipolar i really hope thats not the case for you and i wish you luck and i hope you can be who you really are soon

I'm taking 40 mg of Prozac as well. and have for several years. I don't take it due to depression, really, though I have been seriously depressed in the past. I take it because it make me a better person. Less angry.
It also retards ejaculation, which is a plus for "quick-triggered" men. The downside of that is that it also reduces sex drive.

i am just about to start a dose of a med. in the prozac family, if you are losing desire to be active then you should tell your doctor. My doc gave me a side-effect list on antidepressants and loss of activity is on it

You need to talk to your doctor. Your doctor can help you by adjusting the dosage. I do not know how long you have been taking Prozac, but as any drug, it takes time to find the right dosage levels.

Please call your doctor and good luck.

It sounds like your dosage is to low, or you need to switch to another anti-depressant.

Over the years I've used a number of SRI (seratonin reuptake inhibitors)s and each has a different impact on me... we all react differently.

You're feeling of not wanting to do anything is indicative of mild depression, so adjusting your meds should help.

I'm not taking it, probably need it, and I have no idea if it makes you active. Do you have the print out the pharmacy gives you?
