Do people ask educated questions anymore? Do people honestly think that just because the media doesn't show it, the Armed Forces don't take care of their own? Wow. Straight wow. It's been months since I've seen anybody that hasn't had body armor. Everyday I see HMMWV's roll out of the shop with new armor. These are things we've been working on here for years already. If you don't believe me simply because CNN won't back me up, then you can get over here and see for yourself.

A lack of body armor hasn't been a significant problem since maybe early 2004. The few exceptions were more to do with people with really odd sizes. Even units in Kuwait had body armor with SAPI plates in '04.
Most of the tanks are sitting in the US. Brigades that trained to go to battle with tanks have deployed with little more than HMMWVs because the mission doesn't call for a lot of tanks.
The problem with adding more troops isn't so much about equiping them as it will be with getting them NCOs and officers.

The fielding of IBA (Interceptor Body Armor) was complete to all units in Iraq in Feb 2004. The reason it took this long was that it was difficult to mass-produce SAPI plates. (Thank Clinton for scrapping our military infrastructure to the point where we had to build new factories in order to provide body armor for the troops and hard armor for the vehicles.)
The person to blame here is Clinton. This is the person who sold the factories and laid-off the workers.
BTW - about all that stuff that Reagan bought. It is now 20 Years Old and wearing out!

Thereby, we'd additionally end that he decieved us deliberatley so as that he ought to "capture" the oil. What a shame! They are properly equipped. At least the soldiers I've talked to are - I'm sure there are exceptions, but I live in a military town and we just had a lot of men and women return from Iraq. Everyone I've talked to has told me that these rumors are highly exaggerated, but who knows? Maybe they just had the best supplies. I don't know. But I *do* know that our military should NEVER be left underfunded.

They do need equipment, but that is not up to Bush. Congress has denied bills trying to get more protection for our troops, which Bush has been supporting.
