It is often considered impossible to keep one's eyelids open during a sneeze although some rare individuals report having little trouble. The reflex of shutting the eyes serves no obvious purpose: the nerves serving the eyes and the nose are closely related, and stimuli to the one often trigger some response in the other. Though the closing of the eyes may be to protect the tear ducts and blood vessels from bacteria expelled in the sneeze

im not sure if this is true oe not but ive heard that the reason why you close your eyes when you sneeze is because your body is protecting your eyes with your eyelids because when you sneeze there is so much pressure that it could damage your eyes if they were to stay open. hope that helps!
