Now I can't get my wedding ring off. My finger is swelled up and the hospital said the only thing I can do is cut it off. Any ideas of how to get it off without cutting it?

Try elevating the hand for 20 minutes or so. That might get enough blood out of it to help the swelling come down. Also try ice to bring down the swelling, then maybe put a little vaseline or something else slippery on your finger before trying to pull it off.

If your finger is REALLY swollen, though, I wouldn't risk manipulating it too much, else you might injure it further.

I'm glad you weren't hurt too badly by the shock, though!

Soak your hand in cold water to reduce the swelling. That may work but if you have internal burns in your fingers and hands, it may not come off yet.

You can always have your ring welded back. It's a minimal cost.

But blood flow can be compromised and cause nerve damage to your finger. You need to get the ring off.
