Because he was a brutal tyrant. But you are correct. There are several other despots who have killed more people. Mao is estimated to have killed between 35 on 48 million Chinese. Stalin killed about 10 million Ukrainians, and FDR referred to him as "Uncle Joe".
We as a nation are not justified in attacking another country that hasn't attacked us first, even though Saddam was a brutal murderer. Our traditional foreign policy, before Woodrow Wilson got us into World War 1, was to beware of foreign entanglements. Since then, our politicians continue to involve us in wars all over the globe.
Unfortunately, I think the Iraqis are worse off now. There are crazy people blowing themselve up with innocent people. God help them.

I can't answer this, although I would say we just try to mind our own business, but that usually don't work. We either get bought into a war by someone bombing something of ours. But, we are the greatest country of the world. I guess we brought down Saddam because if he was still free then we would worry about what he would do next. We have to blame someone.
Okay, I'm 27 girl, rather upset about how the world is turning out. Noticed that the world is a bit backwards and have been brought up in a town, where barefoot and pregnant goes good. I just want to be somewhere else, I don't know if the whole world is like this. I get bitter because of men's comments about women I over hear or they decide to tell me. Which gets them in the end a nice beating from yours truly.

Part of it was certainly that Iraq had been a military issue for the U.S. since 1990. The U.S. had been involved in skirmishes with Iraq throughout the more than a decade that followed the first Persian Gulf War, so it was a continuous issue. It's not as if the invasion came completely out of the blue.

Saddam sat on the worlds second largest puddle of oil. Grab that and you can drive SUVs forever. That's mighty tempting for a thief with the worlds biggest guns and a grocery list of WMD.

He was trying to succeed at destabilizing the US Dollar by using other currencies ie, Euro, to purchase and back his reserves of oil, as is Iran and Venezuela. Not to mention training terrorists and terrorizing innocent people within and around his borders. This destabilization of the US Dollar of course would leave all Americans basically screwed and our way of life would end dramatically as we know it now. Iran is next, then Venezuela, and all you morons better be supporting this if you want to keep that expert armchair world analyst problem solving via computer status.
