It was a mixture of lies and truth. The flesh was cursed from sin. Adam died at the age of 930 which is within the first day of creation. Through one man came death Adam so also through one man Jesus came life as his flesh atoned for all who accept it. 1 Cor. 15: 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Actually the part about you shall be as God's was not a lie, because God did know the difference between good and evil, but not by experience, only by knowledge. But the only part that was a lie was you shall not surely die part. Eve is a God in mother Mary being worshiped as God, the word was gods not god; Genesis 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. People today worship Eve in many forms of pagan worship as the creator of the life of mankind. Now Adam lived 930 years after this, but the Bible says; 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. So Adam died that same day naturally and spiritually

Thats what it says.

Adam and Eve did not sin until they ate the forbidden fruit. The one and only thing in the beautiful garden that God said was off limits.

BUT - Satan was right and wrong when he tempted Eve.

They did not die (immediatly) but their souls were disconnected from God, and they were now mortal.

They did become like "gods" - Knowing good and evil and having to make a choice between the two.

Actually, the first lie (assuming the Bible is correct) was told by God, to Adam.

Taken from the KJV (but any version will do):

Genesis 2:16-17:
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 5:5:
And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Here, you see, God told Adam that he would die from eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil IN THE DAY THAT THOU EATEST THEREOF. In other words, within the same day. But he didn't, he lived for 930 years. But the serpent told the truth:

Genesis 3:4-5:
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:22:
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Here, we see that indeed, even God Himself admits that by eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve IS BECOME AS ONE OF US. In other words, as gods, just as the serpent had told them.

THE SERPENT NEVER LIED.

Well either that, or the I WILL's of satan, and the lies he told to the 1/3 of the angels to make them fall.

Either way, it's from the father of lies, so does it really matter?

(Just for the record, what you have is the first lie told to a human)

Yes.

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:4

Hmm found it..
Genesis 3:1-4

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Yes it was.

Mankind, especially at this age of maturity, have their rational sense to discover the truth. They don't need you or me to tell them what is true and what is false. If we have sufficient knowledge to do so, the Divine Educators don't have to sacrify Their lives to bring down the Holy Books.

Genesie 3:4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”
