How would you rephrase this question to remove bias?

What would you add as details?

What catagorie would you put this question?

And ofcourse the root question is how would you deal with this issue OR is it an issue to you at all.

I think this question is political, so it's in the right place.

To remove bias, I'd remove the words 'so called'. If they are here without the proper documentation, they are here illegally. That makes them illegal immigrants...not 'so called' illegal immigrants.

First, I would close the borders until we have some control over this. It may sound a bit drastic, but right now...we have every right to do that to protect our country. It wouldn't be unfair to anyone, but we're in the middle of a 'war on terror' and have good reason to do that. Our first loyalty should be to our citizens.

If illegals were found here, they should be sent home. No amnesty unless they're being terrorized in their own country and can prove it. If they want to become American citizens, they can fill out the paperwork like all the other LEGAL immigrants have done. Also, if they want to become AMERICANS...that's one thing, but if they want to become American citizens and fly the Mexican/Nigerian/Somalian/Iraqi...whatever flag, they are only here to make money and send it to their respective countries. They don't WANT to be American citizens, they want to use this place for all they can.

Don't get me wrong. I would NOT wish to force them to forget their heritage. Celebrate your traditional holidays, teach your children about their heritage...that's great. Just don't forget that you're also making America part of your heritage right now. If you come here and become a citizen, all the while...running your mouth about how much you hate America...you shouldn't be a citizen.

I see nothing wrong with your phrasing of the question. Such a 'hot button' issue will draw compliments and complaints no matter how its phrased.

In the way of details - economic impact would be the most important element. If 'illegals' actually benefit the economy then they're a positive influence, if they hurt the economy, they're a negative influence.

And it is definitely an issue. Either the laws need to be changed so that illegals can be taxed properly and deportation eliminated.

On the other hand - by definition, under current laws, illegal immigrants are just that - illegal. As such, they should be deported . At a minimum they should not be receiving free health care and free education at legal residents expense.

One way or another, this issue needs to be resolved. The current situation is simply unacceptable. The illegals receive benefits and income (much of which is then shipped outside the country, rather than spent here - thus further harming the economy), do not pay taxes (again impairing the economy) and drain benefits that should be provided to legal residents.

At the same time - they are hired by legal citizens and companies... who also do not all pay the requisite taxes...

We either need to change the laws to recognize illegals, rendering them 'legal' or we need to cut all services provided to illegals, and begin deporting them under current law.

Just my .01

I feel every city should be responsible for enforcing the law. It would be a lot easier that way than the whole nation trying to do it at once. every city should have checkpoints at the entrance and exits of all major roads in and out of the city. We should all have citizenship cards that are scanned on a computer at the checkpoints. If someone doesn't have one, they should be detained and go through the system to be deported. People wouldn't be against this if they have nothing to hide. I also think every city should be responsible for their own benefits programs such as wellfare, public housing, medicaid and schooling. The same should go with these, people should have citizenship cards that are scanned into the computer in order to qualify for these things. The same goes with jobs. Anyone who gets a job should be required to show proof of a citizenship card and the employer should scan it in and show proof they have been scanned and shown to INS or the government. These things alone should be enough to keep illegals from crossing our borders and will probably cause a majority that are here already decide to cross back over and stay. the ones that do decide to stay may resort to crime, but this would be temporary because once they are detained for commiting crimes, they can then be deported as well. The people that have nothing to hide, should have no problem with this. They do it at the airports and people feel safer. They should do it with illegal immigration so people will feel like they have their rights back.

One way to deal with this situation, in my opinion, would be to stop every white, asian, or cheap employer from all over the US from hiring these illegal immigrants.

Once the hiring stops, so will illegal immigration. It's as simple as that.

I know some immigrants use false IDs & documentation to get these jobs, so employers will claim that they're often fooled by this, but what ever happen to a thorough 'background check'?

Most of the time the employers would pay these immigrant workers way below minimum wage & they would give them more hours than their own regular workers.

That's especially true here in New York since the employers & their companies benefit vastly from it.

I'm quite positive that these employers know exactly what's going on & since they're saving money on "cheap labor" this is never going to stop.

I'm not a political person, or a highly educated scholar, but what I hear & see on a daily basis is a downright shame... & it all started with us... so it will have to end with us.

If you are looking for a short question, yours is fine except I would remove the "so-called". The law is very clear on immigration. There are legal ways to immigrate and illegal ways.

The best way to deal with the problem is to build a wall. It doesn't do any good to bail water out of your house if your pipes are all leaking.
Then, you have to make life miserable for illegals. They should not be allowed to drive, work, or get medical care. Finally, i would change the constitution, which allows "birthright" citizenship. This needs to stop right now.

Fair way DEPORTATION when found same day found
The only way we should deal with illegal alien invader rejects
Just think how much more intelligent our children would be if not dragged down by illegal alien invader children invading our schools
How much more health care cost would be lower
lower car insurance
lower taxes as less poor to support
Everything would be better without illegal alien invaders

If you got legal papers, take a number and get in line. We have a perfectly fine immigration law in play now.
If you arne't here legally and want to come here for work or to emmigrate, leave NOW and get in the back of the line. Otherwise, in 6 months you will be caught, put in jail and deported, never to be allowed to return. Legal or otherwise.
Give em' a chance, they made a mistake. But if they make us play hardball ...they need to get ready to recieve a bean ball. No pun intended.
Forget definitions. Come here under the law and be classified as a legal immigrant. Then we can talk.

I would rephrase it as a statement with an exclamation point or two. " Thinkers needed!!". We need to discover a way to help all citizens live well in whatever country their fate leads them to. The problem is not the wonderful people who come here who bring their beautiful cultures and languages, but in our inability to think creatively of how to deal with the issues reflected in our health care systems etc.etc. etc.

There is nothing bias in your question. It is straight and to the point.

Deport them and make it harder for them to get in. You can't really imprison them it would end up costing us more in the long run. However, if they are smuggling drugs it is cost effective to give them lengthy prison terms. Another interesting idea is to make it easy for them to get a work visa. There would be a tax for the government on it. We would stimulate our economy and have control and knowledge of who is in our country. Make it easier for them to do the right thing rather than do the wrong.

Unbiased question

How can America get rid of illegal immigrants who violate the law by just being here? Should they be punished for breaking the law?

Answer

Enforce the laws on the books. Go after employers. No jobs, they leave.

It is a big issue that there are millions here who do not speak english, have broken the law by being here, do not assimilate into the culture. We cannot allow anyone who wants to to be here. That is anarchy.
