I have a 45 rpm record of Elvis' Softly, as I leave you on one side and Unchained Melody on the other and have nothing to play it on so I need help.

It'd be cheaper to just buy the tracks from Itunes or buy the CD and rip it. Otherwise, you need some cables, a 45 player, a sound capture card, and some sound capture software.

Yes, It's actually quite simple, BUT you need a record player that will play 45 rpm. (If you had such a player, you'd merely need the right cables to hook up it to your PC, appropriate software, which is not difficult to get, and a CD writer.) Since you don't have such a player in the first place, you'd either have to find one (could be tricky), find someone in your area that transfers records to CDs (shouldn't be difficult, because many people do it), or, easiest of all, find a CD in a store or online that contains these songs. Since Elvis's songs are readily available, this shouldn't be a problem. It might sound as if this could take a bit of time, but it will definitely be worth the effort. Those songs are definitely worth listening to repeatedly. Congratulations! And good luck with getting the CD. Oh, and don't throw the 45 away when you finally get it copied. Keep it as an irreplaceable souvenir.

It is possible, but only worth doing if it is a very rare hard to find record. If you have a computer and the right software it is pretty easy to do. I actually have seen one in the sky mall magazine on the airplane just the other day. I think it was 200.00 it also did tapes as well.
