I accidentally deleted an e-mail. I've clicked on the document and chosen 'restore ' in my recycle bin. Where would the document be moved to?

Hello,

When you delete a file (any file, no matter what type of file) in windows, it is moved from its orginal location into the recycling bin. Therefore when you open the recycling bin and select restore on the file or files, they are moved back into the orginal file location.

So for example if the file was for example deleted from

c:\my documents and settings\username\mydocuments\hobbies.doc

When you selected restore the file should have been returned to exactly the same place on the disk drive.

**However, emails are generally saved within folders in the email program (in the email client software such as Outlook Express, Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc). And so email messages are NOT managed or handled the same as ordinary files unless you have literally saved the message outside of the email program. Yes! then mail mesages are just normal files, such as "hobbies.eml" for example.

**If a message is deleted within the email client program and then the recycle bin emptied then the message/s are gone & are then not normally recoverable whithout alot of trouble.

**Finally if you can remember the exact name of the file, you could try and run local search of you disk for the file. If you cannot find it in the expected or original location.

a regular file or document would go back to the original location. I don't think the Recycle Bin is designed for emails as they are not typically stored locally on the the computer...

did you check the Trash or Deleted item folders in your email application?

This should mean that the document is in the recycle bin in your email inbox.

It will be restored to wherever it was before you deleted it.
