What causes schizophrenia?
Like many other illnesses, schizophrenia is believed to result from a combination of environmental and genetic factors. All the tools of modern science are being used to search for the causes of this disorder.
Can schizophrenia be inherited?
Scientists have long known that schizophrenia runs in families. It occurs in 1 percent of the general population but is seen in 10 percent of people with a first-degree relative (a parent, brother, or sister) with the disorder.

I am schizophrenic paranoid. I have been for over 40 years. I was told by my mother that I was born breech ("Backwards" she said "and you have been backwards ever since", HA!) but I don't remember it and don't think it has any effect on your subsequent life.
By the way, "schizophrenia" is a bad "label". It should be supplanted by the more scientifically valid designation, Dopamine Dysfunction Disorder, DDD. Use of the label "schizophrenia" serves mainly to cancel the life of the person on which the label is affixed. This according to a group of British Psychiatrists who have formed a Committee for the Abolition of the Schizophrenic Label, CASL.

i was a breech birth as well but i don't think you can connect the two things. I think i may have had schizo about three years ago, but pretty sure this illness can be brought on by stress and illegal drugs. Most people i reckon are suseptible to schizo to varying degrees!

no'one really knows the cause of schizophrenia, it is however believed to be caused by an inbalance of chemicals within the brain, at what age did you show symptoms, i think it highly unlikely that it was caused at birth, without any effects to you then, however if you now have it all you can do is treat it accordingly with medication etc.
