throughout history there have been countless wars, genocides, murders and attrocities in the name of religion. Would the world be a happier place without religion?

I think so yes. I believe in God with all my heart. I know that He exist but religion sperates all of us when we all came from the same God. It is turning a positive thing into evil. You're right.

No. Whether religion is around or not, there will be wars. People use anything as an excuse, and I don't believe religion is the root of all evil. The world would be a better place without satan.

Those who Truly follow God's REAL principles are a minority, and often go unnoticed. These are the Only true worshippers of the Creator.
The others, who merely claim to be such : misquote, twist, & otherwise cause a great deal of the trouble ...

No man kind is, they have used the word religion and the beliefs of others to start wars , kill in Gods name, the word would be a happier place without man

people are the problem,religion is an excuse sometimes used to
do mans bidding.people can be brainwashed very easily,if they
are insecure or vulnerable they may think religion is a crutch
which can help them through life.Ive never seen god commit
genocide or mass murder or start a war,but polpot,GWB,hit
ler and other men in power had an agenda of there own for
the actions and evils they commited.What evils lurk in the
hearts of men,that is the only evil that exists.Lets just hope
for every evil man,there are thousands of good men.
So to sum up,i don't believe in god and i don't believe in the
devil.I believe that men are the only evil in this world,right
and wrong are just actions and choices made by men to
further there own ends.

no religion is not the root of all evil.
slavery is the root of all evil.
religion helps orphans and widows but evil slavers like those of ROMAN descent want power even over orphans and widows that were there slaves so historically abaddon claims to outrank religion that would help free woman and children so they make religion seem as evil as they can.
slavery, condoned by anceint romans means you have no rights or right to a religion because they own you. religion can free your bereaved children thus slavers like in The Mission with R, Deniro consider religion an evil joke.
so Rome itself which for 2000 years condoned slavery is one of the roots of evil slavery.

I think without religion it would stop people using it as an excuse to begin wars, murder, etc.
We should just have one religion that does not cast you down for colour, race or sexuality. One religion that guides you to leading a good life.

If your religion is hellinistic and your goal murder, etc ...
Then i guess the answer would be yes.
If however the religion you practice is of peaceful means, striving to steer away from these things then the answer would be no.
However, as a race we still have not mastered the art ...

No, Religion is NOT the root of all evil.
It is GREED for Fame, Power and Wealth that is the ROOT of all Evil of Men; and THEY USE RELIGION as a means to their ends.
