How do you define English? - Those who were born here? Those whose parents were also born here? Those who married someone English? Those who speak English?

The NHS has one and a half million employees. It is the biggest employer in the UK and the fourth biggest in the world. We couldn't function without the expertise of trained nurses and doctors from other countries. If ever you need to be treated in hospital as an emergency, believe me, you won't care what nationality your nurse is!

Not many. Each time I'm in hospital, I tend to see many nurses talking around the nurses station, but very few of them actually working.

Not sure where you are coming from I work at a clinic and only 1 nurse there is truly British.

Very few due to poor pay and conditions but it is a global problem. No Nurses anywhere.

1, and she's just gone off shift so 0, ask the question again at 9am and the answer will be 1 unless she rings in sick or falls off her motorbike on the way to the hospital. and if your wondering it's 4 doctors, 24 hours a day.....they never sleep,
