I have a brother who is a professor at a college in California his wife is an American judging by their way of life, they have only just accepted that the USA has probably destroyed real food in some Countries by introducing 'Big Mac'
Thank God the French still hold out against the USA offerings to the world, but even in Paris they scar the landscape.
I don't think my sister in Law has ever cooked a decent meal in 30yrs, normally they 'go out' and have a fast food meal. Yuk!
But their views of George are send him the poisoned apple!!

How can the US not know what mince pies are. lol .Yummy. Maybe you could start exporting them to the US. I've got no idea what is traditional in the US because I live in Australia where mince pies are very popular. Maybe some US people could let us know what is traditional in their country at Christmas?? If Mr Blair has sent a box to Mr Bush I hope Mr Bush enjoys them!!!

My husband and father love mince pies, especially around the holidays. Personally, I don't care for them, my favorite being peach. It is getting harder every year to find either the box or jar mixtures, but well worth the price when watching them savor those first bites. :-)
As for traditional treats - FUDGE is extremely popular around Christmas, as are brittles and hard tack candy. As for pies, pumpkin is very traditional. Also favored are pumpkin rolls and "yule log" cakes.
Oh, let's not forget the ever popular cranberry sauce, cranberry jelly, cranberry salad, etc.

My grandmother used to make mince pies, but I don't think they're as popular as they used to be in the U.S..
I think George probably sent Tony either some gingerbread men with camouflage icing ;-) or some sugar cookies.

I definitely know mince pies! The most famous US Christmas treat is probably fruitcake, but christmas cookies are better! I think pumpkin pie is more for Thanksgiving.

In the U.S, traditional Christmas treats are:
Fruitcake, gingerbread, sugar cookies, candy canes, egg nog, and all kinds of candies. Other things like Rice Krispie squares, fudge, chocolate-covered cherries, and rum ball cookies are big, too.

I love mince pies, I look forward every year to have a reason to have them, it's getting harder and harder around here to find the filling, but I did, and those little boxes are getting pretty expensive, but it won't stop me

Pie. yet why not have a pie with pudding interior it? I basically realized that the elements for Christmas pudding are the same as mincemeat elements, yet with flour extra.
