Here's what you do. ALWAYS OFFER TO PAY doesn't matter who it is, or what she's like. If she says " no no, i'll pay for mine" then you say "ahh no, i'll get it, it's no big deal" THEN...if she says " are you sure?" then you always pay when you guys go out unless she says should would like to before you guys even leave. BUT if she says " no, that's ok i can get it" you respect it, and move on without any questions. This ain't 1950, and if she wants to pay then let her. But ALWAYS offer and counter offer, because they will always say " no, i'll pay for me" the first time ......unless you got a gold digger....then pay, get what you can get and move on

I was raised the old fashioned way I would try to pay, though if the girl offered to go halves I wouldn't say no.

I allways pay on the 1st date, and it never bugs me...by the 2nd or 3rd date, it is nice to see a date at least offer to pay.
