Does anyone know of a hire place that doesnt want the deposit on a credit card. I dont have a credit card, cos in my eyes if you cant afford it,you cant have it. Need to travel home and collect my children to spend New Year with them. Help. Other than that, I live in Middleton, Manchester if anyone wants to loan me one and they can use my car.

No. Most hire companies require a credit card for security.
Credit Cards aren't just for buying things you can't afford.
Used sensibly, they are something you can make a profit from - you get a few weeks free credit on everything you buy, protection under the terms of the consumer credit act for more expensive purchases and, if you choose the right card, cashback on each purchase.
I pay the full balance on all my cards every month, but still wouldn't be without one (and I get 1% cashback on everything I spend - effectively I save 1% on all my groceries, fuel, broadband, clothes, holidays, etc., or to put in another way, I got a free meal for two, with wine, last month from a credit card company I've never paid any fees or interest to).
Get a card, use it sensibly, and you'll be able to hire a car and have more money in your pocket.
