I heard Adventistd teach that souls cease existing in hell, but no one actually goes anywhere when they're dead, they have to wait until they are resurrected (dead people are incapable of recieving heaven or hell).

Your major concern should be about the salvation of your soul. Forget about what may or may not happen after you are dead! Pick up your Bible and start reading from John 3:16, and then move on to the rest of the New Testament and the books of Psalms and Proverb, for starters.

The purpose of life is to develop an immortal soul. Those who, through not doing the Father's will and committing much evil, fail to develop a soul adequate to survive just cease to exist when their body dies. The only part of you that lives on is the good you've done.
Jesus referred to this when he stated, "The wages of sin is death."
