Homemade Christmas Card....

I know the feeling - my parents have everything they want pretty much... and are actually trying to get stuff out of the house, rather than having more stuff come in... but they still give me gifts... feels downright weird.

I'd suggest a gift card as a present, or perhaps just a card. My sister makes things on her computer (calendars with the kids pics) which might also work for you.

Or a store bought card perhaps...

Its an awkward situation for you...

If you feel the need to get him a gift, then I would go ahead and follow your instinct. He's probably saying he doesn't want anything because he doesn't want you to think you are obligated or maybe he wants you to pick out something rather than him telling you what he wants. I believe that gifts that one picks out from their heart are the best and have the most meaning, no matter how big or small they may be. Good luck!

think outside his box. Get him something that will surprise him, and make him smile. Get him something so outrageous that from now on, for every gift giving occasion he will either tell you exactly what he wants or sit back and wait with anticipation and amusement at what you think up next.

A painted ceramic elephant comes to mind. How about a canvas and some paints. How about a baseball mitt or an electric plane that he can fly in your backyard? How about a 5,000 piece puzzle that will take him until next Christmas to finish, especially if it is all one solid color.

Buy him a tuxedo bow tie or a yellow hat or some pajamas with feet in them.

Bake for him. If you make cookies and put them in a box, wrap it up and give that to him, he will love that. You could also put a picture of the two of you in a frame and wrap that as well. What you dad means is that he doesn't want you spending your money on him. This way, you won't be spending a lot of money, but you will be giving a gift from your heart and he's sure to melt when he opens it. Good Luck!

Try to find him a present that he will appreciate. Sometimes people will not admit what they would really like, so ask around and see if anyone has any good suggestions. In the least, you can get him something useful, as men hardly ever by necessary things for themselves. I'm sure he will appreciate anything you could offer him, as he is your father and will love you no matter what.

Buy him a gift card from a place like Home Depot or Lowes. then he can use it for something he might find there.

Men always say they don't need anything, however when they are in the store they'll see things they want.

Could you make him something instead? He might like a framed picture of the two of you to put on his desk or somewhere in the house. Dad's are always hard to shop for!!!!
