Why would an all-loving God want tens of millions of people to suffer and die from smallpox over the last 4,000 years, and then suddenly decide to "divinely inspire" a cure in the twentieth century? If that explanation is true, then God is clearly a sadist. Only a sadist would cause the suffering of smallpox for thousands of years when he had a "divinely inspired" cure waiting in the wings. Why would we want to worship a sadist?

(to find the true answer, go to www.whydoesgodhateamputees.com and look at Chapter 7. Actually, the entire website explains and answers a lot of questions people have about atheism.)

To the folks that have indicated that technology was not available at that time, I would further ask then: if god is all-powerful and can do anything, why didn't he give them the technology? Even better, why didn't god just wipe out smallpox himself? Does he just like to watch people suffer? Isn't that mean? Doesn't sound all-loving to me...

does this show that either no one has actual faith anymore or that the bible lies?

dont even tell me i took this out of context, it doesnt have any "if's" in that chapter, you are putting it in your own context by saying "only if its in gods will"
