It will probably never happen completely. The Bible says, "Beware, your sins will find you out". This means that Satan will keep looking until he finds your weak spots and then capitalize on them. One thing to remember is, temptation is not a sin; yielding to it is the sin. Keep yourself grounded in the Word of God. Sinning will keep you from reading the Bible, but reading the Bible will keep you from sinning.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Being tempted is not a sin until we allow our self to be drawn into our own lusts. It is in our mind that we first lose the battle with temptation. Our actions are followed by our thoughts.
We have to consider our self dead to the flesh. If we resist the devil he will flee from us. We are able to recognize and resist the devil through the renewing of our mind. We spend time in the living word of God reading, studying, memorizing and applying the wisdom in it to our daily life. This is retraining our mind to percieve our life and the life those around us from God's perspective. What we submit to or sow into our self grows stronger and what we resist grows weaker.
The only way we can gain total victory against temtation is to truly die to our self. We have to be nothing and let God be everything, doing His good works through us. In our success of overcoming we can take no credit for it is God who has done everything. Our only credit is that we made the choice to let God change us, live through us and we do all things His way and not our way. This is the goal of my life and I have so far to go. In attempting to submit all areas of my life to Lordship I am truly gaining understanding of what it means to live life abundantly through Christ Jesus.
What we think of as sacrifice and hardship so we hold on for dear life is really nothing, no matter how good you think it is, compared to the life, joy, happiness, peace and contentment that you experience through surrender to Jesus. He really has done it ALL for us. All we have to is believe that God is who He says he is, accept our new identity as a true child of the Living God the Creator of the universe and all the life in it and recieve all that our Dad has and wants for us, because He loves us totally and completely just as we are, warts, attitude and all. There is absolutely nothing we can do to make or encourage God to love us more than He already does. We can please Him through our obedience and anger Him in our disobedience, however, He can never love us more than He already does.
